I'm in my late sixties and just at the end of a bad year of annoying health issues.

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm 25 years your junior and have a big, noisy family, so I can't relate to what you are feeling, I wish that I could.

Hang in there LW. You are in my thoughts & prayers. Can you try to dabble a little bit into your art again? Join an art class or art group? I'm sure they don't drink during art class.

What about AA. Have you ever tried it? I belong to AA and my sponsor is 77 years old. She's awesome.

Well I popped in the pub with a friend on the way home from work. I had a coke. The bar man was talking to my friend about me not drinking anymore and made a winnie the poo reference that made me laugh. He said drinking Ben is like tigger and sober Ben is like Eeyore. He said i just seem sad all the time. It made me chuckle he is so right. But it did make me think I must make more of an effort to not come across as depressed. I'm not depressed I'm just quieter compared to my drunk self.

Just think of it this way, Ben. Even though Eeyore shows all the signs of clinical depression he still has all of his friends, and they love him.

Everyones different I suppose. I shouldn't make on/off sobriety sound like a lifestyle choice but I lost 10 kgs in three months (last time I managed to pull some sober time together ) in 3 months and I was eating far more than usual. I think we retain a lot of water at first until our kidneys etc get used to the adjustment of not always being dehydrated ? I know day 5 here and I am constantly thirsty still and waking up feeling like I have a hangover. My blood sugar tests normal though but it's a terribly irony we have to first feel worse before we feel better.

Weekend and I'm super sulky I am sitting home alone because I am too much of a danger to myself around alcohol.

I totally relate Ben! I'm completely different when I drink too. But I hate me when I'm drunk. It's just not fun anymore.

I can't imagine having the strength to go to a bar right now! That last time I did that (and drank a coke) I got drunk 2 days later. Stuck close & be careful! That euphoric recall may kick in and try to tell you you're missing something.

Grrrrr.....
