Guess this is a good place to start. Yesterday was my day one, survived day two today, feeling very positive, but know brunch with family tomorrow will be challenging. There may be audible gasps when I turn down a bloody mary. I've made my lists of my reasons why and been practicing a polite "no thank you ". I decided to join here so I have a backup plan and can hide out and get some support if needed. Thank you in advance!

Yeah, the in between can be tough when you know you have a drinking problem but are still trying to manage it.

There is some initial discomfort but ultimately a lot of freedom in getting over the hump and to the point where you can tell people that you're in AA (in my case just joined) and have given up drinking for life due to being ultimately powerless over alcohol.

This time last week I was well on my way to be blacked out. Grateful to sleep in my own bed tonight and wake up tomorrow clear headed and sober. Closing in on sober week one.. Hope's creeping through the cracks

Welcome and and chicken lady.

It's day 7 here 25 degrees today ( that's hot for England in may) 5 in the morning and first thing I think when I wake up is.... I wonder if everyone made it through yesterday. Well done guys. It was tough my first sober Saturday In living memory. Just need to get through today now. I want to avoid anyone drinking at all today they just annoyed me yesterday.

I've got to ask. . What emotion is that squidworth thing supposed to show? ???

Oh, shiney new thread. Nice! We ended up heading into the city and walking around The Rocks markets, before finding an Italian restaurant for lunch. Then we did goverment house and the botanic gardens. So no crafting, but time well spent with the family. I really should do some housework, I suppose. Hope everyone has a good Sunday planned.

Welcome And and Chickenlady.

Well I'm out in the countryside for a drive with no direction or destination feeling very down. Actually can't wait to go to work tomorrow.. I'm not hungover at least. Today is gonna be a toughy I can feel it all ready and it's only 7:30 am. I know it's all in my head I'd be fine it wasn't the weekend.
Still not sure what squidworth is for but I like it

Squidward is a reference to me, Ben

Long story short I never take vacations and neither does he.

The other mods put him in there

Good morning.

This is now the fifth (I think) 'Class of' group that I've joined and I am determined this will be the last.

I'm on day 2 and have woken up feeling great - but then the sun is out and looks like it is going to be a lovely day here in the UK.

In the hour since I got up I've achieved more than I do on days when I'm either thinking about drinking, drinking, or being hungover. It is SUCH a no-brainer!

One thing that gave me a bit of a kick up the backside was waking up yesterday and finding my ankles and feet had swollen up. This morning they are back to normal but I am under no illusion about the fact that hat is a sign physical damage is occurring.

I've a busy day - work, driving to meet parents, lunch with parents, dashing back to get my son to a meeting point as he is off to a concert tonight, cutting grass. I'm then going to grab a cuppa and sit down and write down a list of reasons why drinking is not an option and stick it on the front door.

I've always balked a little at that as my son has friends that pop in unexpectedly - but then seeing that that means most of them have seen me inebriated it doesn't exactly matter !!!

Take care all and have good days x

Great job country gal (yes it's Jo by the way). Seems yesterday being a Saturday was a big mental hurdle for many here so it's brill that so many got through it. Feeling a great team spirit on here. Take care and have a great tomorrow 😊
