I wanted to thank you for all your thoughts. I am still a bit shaken up that drinking was on the table last night if the project was lost. I am very grateful for small miracles. Self-doubt, which is a big trigger for me, seems to be rearing its head a lot lately. Last night didn't help, but at least I got through it. Just trying to regain some confidence.
DaneK-very glad you didn't relapse. We need you here.
Erfra-we need you here too. Keep hanging in there. The loss of a dear friend is tough.

I think a bit of self doubt is expected every now and then. I know I have it sometimes. But the fact that it bothers me/us so much when fleeting thoughts of drinking pop in demonstrates how much we've come to treasure sobriety.
A couple of hours ago I was having a visit with my sister (she's sober since '97) about this exact thing. She told me that with time she doesn't as much have fear about drinking again but doesn't lose sight of exactly where she'd end up if she stops respecting her sobriety. I think I get what she means.
