Hi guys, breakfast for dinner: banana walnut cinnamon pancakes, maple chicken apple sausage, and tangerines from my mom's tree.

Mom gave me another bag of walnuts, so I spent a couple hours shelling and came out with another 6 cups or so. Into the freezer they go!

Also made some heavy hand cream because my skin has been very dry. I melted down some of that chocolate body butter I made a couple months ago (I have a bunch in the fridge), added some beeswax and honey and lavender oil, stirred like a maniac to keep the honey in suspension as it cooled, and came out with some great stuff. My hands are so much happier now. I made some lip balm from that body butter the other day, which is good, and I'm thinking of making a lotion bar tomorrow too because why not? That butter mix is the perfect base for all kinds of good stuff.

So it was a productive day in the kitchen. I hope all is well for you guys.

And a funny thing...my husband had a rough week at work and is contemplating some major career changes. It's a tough time for him, and I want to be supportive, but our communication can be a little awkward. Solution? Write it on a cake:

Message delivered. Marriage reinforced. Husband happy. This is how Briar gets it done.

Love it Briar! Happy the heat broke Venus. Started Fargo last night. I did NOT need another TV show. Slept in today. That was awesome. Time to jump in the shower. Good morning all.

That would win my heart Briar. And a sweet treat to boot! Your hubby is in the wine industry, right? Maybe a career change would be good for you and your family. Funny how things work out sometimes.

Is it good? Don't tell me.

It is 59 degrees. I am in heaven. Still really tired though. Pretty sure I had heat exhaustion by the end of that. I was very dizzy and in a lot of muscle pain. All good now. Until next time.

Hi phoebe love, and good morning all.

Arbor I agree, a change would be good. I really would like him to get out of the alcohol business. It would help me close the door on that part of my life.
