Sorry it was stressful Key, but I'm glad you're fine.

was that it for you or is there more to come?

Key, glad you made it through. Big events like that can be stressful anyway, then take away our "go to" stress-reliever.....dealing with the rawness of being sober at a big event like that....it's tough. Give yourself the pat on your back you deserve. I'm glad your trucker took it seriously too and was there for you.

Eventually....it's kind of a relief knowing theres no use trying to tame our intake of alcohol and it's actually easier and more straightforward not to drink. Those first few milestone events are the hardest.

I remember Skippy the bush kangaroo when I was a kid!
Key glad you got through Thanksgiving.
Trying to motivate myself to go to the gym this morning. Wish I had a gym buddy.

I have one more Thursday with my husbands family. It will be tough again. I will make it I know, but it doesn't stop the cravings and the AV from trying to sneak in. Trucker will drink there, I know this for sure. Maybe I just won't go so early. I used to go real early so I could start drinking while I was "helping". I may wait a little longer this year. I get stressed out with big crowds, loud crowds, and now big, loud, drinking crowds. Lol
It will be tough on many of us...let's pray for each other. I am feeling better emotionally so that's a plus!

I know what you mean about big loud crowds, Key. I will have to deal with this at a wedding in January.
I'm glad you're feeling better.
I went to the gym. I'm going to try and go regularly. I'm out of shape.
It was very busy, but I wasn't as anxious as when I used to drink. I used to pick up a bottle of wine on the way home from the gym as a reward! How daft is that!

Haha Leshar, your wine after a workout reminds me of how I'd drink all night, then get to work early so I could fit in a 6k walk before work - hungover as a dog sometimes,

Hi gang
I had a rough time sleeping last night.
Had one of those nights where your brain just wont shut down and you keep thinking about stuff. I don't think I got an hour of sleep all night.
Kind of reminded me of those rough first nights after quitting drinking.
As odd as it may sound despite the lack of sleep I didn't feel all that tired today.

Anybody else notice this? I can smell alcohol on somebodies breath from 10 ft. away.

Yes!!! Which is the reason I think that I am the only person who knows my older sister is secretly drinking...I can always smell it.

I am really tired as well, but gosh it is easy compared to being hungover!

Hope you have a good night's sleep tonight Bob.

A nightshift worker came in to work and I could smell it. Avoiding eye contact, drinking coffee that had little effect hiding it. Sadly this person already has 2 DUIs that I know of.
Just got back the drivers license not long ago.

I'm sharing this story, not to point out somebody else's issues.
But, the first thing I thought about was how I tried to hide, breath, and avoid talking too much with people.
So thankful I don't need to hide anything anymore.

Thanks Bob. I noticed this just last week, both times the same person was in the meeting. I feel relief to not be that person anymore.

Bob, I hope you sleep better tonight.
I went to my Spanish class tonight. I'm a bit off, irritable, and had sudden cravings tonight. I'm ok, I won't drink but I was surprised by the cravings. I've eaten too much ice cream. I think our incipient winter doesn't help my mood. Also, some guys from the class were going for beers after. I'd like to be able to socialize with my classmates outside of class, but I wasn't asked.
