321hope there are threads for co dependent's on here , just saying . I'm an alcoholic , but I always look for something or someone to take care of . Hence my username . Once my Nest was Empty I was lost & alone only myself to take care of . I wasn't that good at it !!

Thank you Nesty, I am not the typical codependent person, it just happened when my last child left home. All this really surprised me. I'm still baffled at how I got pulled in, probably because the woman is my age, we became good friends and I saw so much potential. I came to the alcholic threads trying to understand more about addictive behavior.

I understand what you mean 123hope . Before I became an alcoholic , I had dated one when I was younger . I could never figure out why he couldn't just stop . Of course I know the answer now . It's because it takes you over body & mind , you don't care about nothing & no one but the next drink . You'll run over everyone in your path to get to it . Yes when you are some what sober , you hate yourself . So that gives another reason to drink , cause you think your a rotten person . Vicious cycle ...
