Shabby, that's ALL it is. Do any of us really know anything about Frank? He's on the West coast. He's a writer and he takes care of his ailing mom. We've heard his voice and grown fond of his wit and his humor. But what else is there? We know he struggles sometimes with the desperate need/desire to drink. So far he has been strong and every one of us roots for him. We all love this guy, including me.

He's got a core group of people who care about him. So where is the risk in allowing one tiny crack in the façade? What is the danger? Will he implode if he shares something of substance?

He reads us parts of his book which is awesome but they are small windows into his creativity, not in any way revealing anything about him as a person or a man. Where is the risk in that? It's all very controlled.

We don't want him to cut open his jugular and bleed all over the floor, we want to see who he is! Just a tiny little tidbit of truth. Who gives a crap about his age!? I wanted a shred of truth.

I am sorry if I came across harsh. If you are posting your actual picture you are a very good looking guy. I wondered if you are 47...57...67... the most attractive thing is your desire to get sober. Be proud.

The road has not been as easy as I let on here, but that's because I prefer to joke around. But I'm on that road, about eight days short of two months of sobriety. And those two months, when I get there, is because of the support you all have given me.

Anyone have a good joke?

Frank, I am addicted to an addict. IF it's 1/2 of what you have to go through to abstain I am so sorry for your burden.
Sometimes it's minute by minute, to not contact her.
I want her to be sober, she doesn't think she has a problem.
I am rooting for you. Your desire to abstain makes me weep.

Hope, you are certainly not a burden! Wish I had some wise(ass) advice about her. Everyone I knew when I was drinking was an alky. I just had to cut ties to protect myself.
