Ken I've saved your story this time in my Recovery Folder, thanks for writing it out again!

Snaggle I'm off to bed shortly as I have a big day tomorrow but I wanted to welcome you back to the Marcher thread, we are all so glad to have you here again. Tracy came back to us a little while ago and it's a blast having him here. Gilmer joined us a bit later on than the original March thread but she is a true blue marcher, you'll love her like we all do.

I've got my last batch of rice cooking as I type this which means that tomorrow I only need to reheat the beef casserole, the Italian veal casserole and the rice. The kumara and potatoes will go on the bbq to cook, I'll whip up the vegan curry in the morning and cook the Tandoori chicken legs in the oven before I reheat the other stuff.

I was going to make the bread but decided that was stretching things too thin for my perfectionist nature so I have ordered from the bakery. Dessert is being brought so I think that should feed the 26 of 'em.

Oh marcher you know I love my food porn! That all sounds amazing! What's in that vegan curry, I'd like some of that please!

Snaggle, I remember you from when I was lurking on the marchers. I'm technically a februarian, but that thread fizzled and the marchers were kind enough to take us in. Welcome back!!

Once again, I have a lot of reading to do so I'll just say hola for now. Hi guys!

Things are pretty good in wehavland. Had 17 months the other day, almost forgot. Miss deeker and her reminders. Crazy workapalooza week 7 down, one week to go. Then three days of camping, a few days of work then VACATION!!!! In the home stretch...

Things have been kind of up and down with partner, but more up than down and the down has been leading to growth so it's been really eye opening in a good way. We just might make it after all, lol. I'm mostly kidding. I've never actually wanted to quit and she hasn't either.

Have a good day folks!

Camping on the river, will spend three days paddling and eating 'cause that's how I relax, lol.

And vacay is to England. Spending a few days in the south visiting and then joining my partner up north.

Ken, thank you for sharing that! I've known a lot of your story but never in detail. I too am sorry about Mrs. Budd -- is there a chance she is in recovery now? When I was in social work school many many many years ago they shunned the idea of a counselor specializing in a field they were in recovery for. I disagree. It sounds like your counselor hasn't a real clue about addiction and that's too bad. I think you have a ton of reasons to stay sober: to prove that boob wrong and of course for the beautiful Jezebel

I was arrested for a DUI in DC back in 2000. Worst time as I was in my 3rd year of law school and going through the process of a background check for the feds. I was lucky and the charges were dropped after I took a DUI class. My class wasn't so bad - I actually found it interesting and kind of fun. The teacher was hysterical and there was no judgment in the room -- but it had zero impact on me. I continued to drive drunk.

I'm glad for you that it woke you up and turned your life around. Your way too special to drink it away

I'd like to think of us as "the island of misfit toys" from that old children's Christmas cartoon with Hermie the elf who wants to be a dentist and the abominable snowman who is actually sweet. The island of misfit toys is where all the toys go who lost an eye or ear or need a few stitches.

And I mean it as a compliment. So we got a few boo boos. Wasn't the stuffed animal that was beat to **** always a kids favorite? I know mine was.

And the stuffed teddy bear missing an eye and stuffing coming out of him was because he got loved on the most.

So anyone who has ever felt a little bit different and got banged up a little is always welcome here.

Duff, the 2 day class wasn't bad either, the instructor sure picked on the people that didn't think they had to be there. It was funny to me.

This counselor says he has 35 years sober and still goes daily to AA meetings. That's cool for him, but when I reminded him my using SR, he kept calling it a "telephone group".

He just came across, to me, as a fanatic.

As far as Mrs Budd, last I heard, she lost her last job because of drinking. I'm still FB friends with 2 of her sisters, I don't ask about her but I'm sure they'd have let me know if she had any intention of quitting.

And great recap on your story Budd. I remember your counselor. Didn't he call us your imaginary friends or something?

He probably still pisses you off but I'm sorry, I laughed my butt off on his think of this as punishment comment.

You are the most alcohol affects trained person on here. You should have gotten a degree after all that. You definitely can take the counselors position should he decide to retire and go into something more current....like maybe teaching Atari pong video game techniques.

Shoes, a few months ago I went to a different counselor, through my work EAP program. Mainly to bitch about work. In our first session I expressed my lack of faith in counseling due to that idiot. She called him by name! so, I guess I'm not the first to think he's incompetent.

Atari Pong would be too complicated for him, I think rotary phone dialing instructor would be his best bet. Or snow plow driver here in the Keys!

It was a curry Wehav onions, garlic, green chilli and ginger with cumin, coriander, turmeric & garam masala then tomatoes and mushrooms. It was my favourite dish of the day -- it was a new dish to my repertoire but it went well..

I am sooooo tired, I had 32 in the end. Toddling off to bed soon.

Marcher, that pic of kumara looks like what we call yams or sweet potatoes (yum). I can't imagine having that many people. You are one of those awesome people who do that! You deserve a good rest :-)

Good morning Marchers I hope everyone is having a good Sunday, it's been quiet here overnight so I am assuming the weather is perfect to be out and about.

We were so lucky with the weather yesterday, it got to 21C on the deck (in the middle of winter!) which meant that we could eat outside which was much easier as we actually have more table/chair seating outside than in. The birthday boy was "stoked" about the day to use his word and there was lots of praise for the food which was very satisfying.

I think for me the best was part was a moment in the late afternoon after dessert had been served, I let out a breath and sat down and really wanted a drink. AV was really loud and insistent about how I "deserved" it blah blah blah. I took a breath, thought of you people and wondered what to do as I couldn't get up and go for a walk or something. So I thought sod it if I look a dag I'm getting my knitting and I did. Well it was like a second curtain call after the cake! Instead of feeling a dag, missing drinking, a big conversation started amongst about ten people, first about the linen shawl I am making for another friend's 50th, then hand knitted items, crafts of all types etc. The drinking moment passed and my hands moved in my knitting meditation.

Although we cleaned up last night I was kind of dreading my usual weekly clean this morning but I woke up only a little tired and it's all done now mid-morning. For me this has been my biggest test in 16 months and I passed!

Have a good day peeps.

Apart from the last line Sass. I could have written every part of that post. Unfortunately, i'm still not feeling better. I too have met with the most amazing addiction psychiatrist, a professor no less. I know this guy is going to help me conquer this deamon once and for all It's been a battle and i've been shying away from you guys as i've continued to slip. Thanks so much for your honesty Sass.

I hope everyone is well. I need to go back and read the last few pages and catch up.

Much love
