Class Of November 2013 Part 4
Yeap . . . 3 Years ago it was a Saturday . . . woke up feeling like death, as was the case every weekend, same old story on eternal repeat, round and round, no hope, no plan, no idea where my life was going, only down the pan in a tsunami of alcohol.
I remember thinking something has to change, but really this time, I was flicking through the English soccer results on the sofa, dressing gown on, slippers on, it was 3pm in the afternoon, I'd only gotten out of bed an hour beforehand, and was sitting with a diet coke and a large glass of water, what was I doing?
I logged into SR again, had been here before, but something was different this time, the will was there, I really wanted to be Sober more than I wanted to drink that Saturday night!!
November 2013 changed my life!!

Merry Christmas to all!
My apologies for my absence from Nov. 2013 class. I do miss chatting with you all, hence my return.
So this is my (and yours hopefully) 4th sober Christmas. 37+ months since the last liquor induced headache. At this stage of the recovery, I feel pretty damn good.
Life is good, health is good and the future looks very bright indeed. I will retire in the spring at some point. We have added another grandson to the mix, making three. The two older ones moved 3 doors down from us last summer. They are here everyday for one reason or another. 5 and 4 now. So much joy the three of them give us. Could not imagine being passed out and missing the fun.
Just got back from an Asian cruise for three weeks. The thought of picking up a drink never really crossed my mind (at least not for more than 2 seconds at a time).
I only seem to remember the good times I had when drunk, not the problems.
That will never go away.
Anyway, i ramble.
Just wanted to say hello to all of you again. Trusting you are all well and happy.
I promise I will check in more often.
Rick

We bought a liquor package for my wife and a non alcohol package for me. It was fine. Mine included specialty coffees, perrier, smoothies etc.
It was a better deal than paying for each drink.

Well, it’s that time again! Time to bring our class thread out of mothballs!
Looking forward to catching up with you all as we celebrate 4 years’ sobriety.
Apophylite, Siesta, Rick, and PurpleKnight—and anybody else I missed!
We’ll lift a Perrier to one another!

Thanks, Notimetoloose! It has been a good year: I find the years go better and better the longer I’m sober—more stability and selflessness, less default to a state of constant pity parties!
