Faith
Having faith is the biggest part of my recovery .
I always believed in something but there was always fear connected with it. .
That would not work for me . I believe some people actually find that higher power once they have been in the AA/SR for awhile .
For me I sensed strange coincidences .
I felt people were talking right to me and telling my story. I felt it did come from something greater .
People were sharing my feelings, sharing my pain and giving me hope which I had not had in years and years .
There was something good going on something was definitely happening as mysterious as it was .
These people who had been through the wringer like me were smiling and happy and laughing.
I did find whom I now call God . I found that special thing, before I tried to fill that whole with alcohol, drugs, men, stuff and food . I believe that space was reserved for God .
God didn't cause my alcoholism but he did use it to make me realize my need for him and for that I am grateful .
God is number one in my life above everything . I seek to serve him and I do my best to behave as if he were with me every minute of the day because I believe he is .
I respect his presence today and am Grateful that when I was ready to come back to AA and into SR that He stood there with a little smirk and with open arms saying Welcome back deek, I've been waiting for you.
I believe if you are reading this that God is trying to get your attention as well. I believe he brought you to this recovery forum.
That means you are worth something to him . Many people never find this site or AA and end up in jail, dead or in a institution .
So grab hold of this free gift, the help that is being offered and take suggestions. You will find hope I promise!! And if you're like me I hope you will find God or maybe he will just grab hold of you and not let go.
God Bless You!
( And if you are an atheist, I respect your beliefs as well, I just hope and pray you will recognize that Special something that goes on in SR and whatever you call it I hope it helps you as much it as helped me).
You can even call it

10:45 here in DC and another sober day! Welcome to those who have just joined us and big hugs and positive vibes to those who may be having a rough day/night. Stick with it and stick here with us! Goodnight, all, see you tomorrow, same place.
Because Deeks asked F in GOFD was meant to mean "Former" LOL. Good night everyone. Signing out and in again at 9:16. I think the other obvious interpretation of F would apply to those actively imbibing.
checking in for yet another 24 hr. pledge to the sober life....and a member of the GOFD club
10:10 pm in Oregon......
I remember hearing at various times about people who never drank alcohol, ever....people such as Tyra Banks, Donald Trump, my Mom, eh, can't think of others at the moment. But I was so intrigued, actually flabbergasted that someone could live a life with absolutely no alcohol. I wish I'd never started, but 32 years later, I really, really want to stay sober and see what the rest of my life could be, and just say, been there, done that!
Nitey-nite,
"stay sober, my friend, stay sober"......(kind of a play on that beer commercial, you know?)
