24 Hour Club Sign Up Sheet Part 4 Hang With The Winners Club!
I said to myself A LOT in the beginning:
"EQ, you already know what your life looks like when you drink. You have given that experiment a good dozen years of study.. Why not find out what your life is like sober?"

Make Plans
I like what Pedro said "Plan your weekend" What good advice. It is easy to think about a drink if we have to much idle time, boredom on our hands. So if you are bored write a letter to yourself of things you have been putting off for years, I don't mean catching up on housework. I mean a list of fun stuff you have been putting off. I have some great ideas of free and fun entertainment if you have not built up your pocketbook yet.
Go to the local pet store and ask if you can take a puppy into their playroom. They usually have one. Hard to be sad when you are playing with a puppy.
Dig your bike out of the garage and walk it to the nearest gas station and put air in the tires and ride it home. Once you get going you may not want to go right home.
Go to a bookstore and just browse in the recovery section, I bet you will be there for at least 2 hours once you start. Read about alcoholism/addiction. If you are not in AA/AVRT, look for other books on other recovery routes. Get a coffee and a brownie and just read.
Go to the grocery store and ask someone if they need help loading their groceries.( hopefully they won't think you are gonna load their groceries and then steal their purse). lol or spend 30 minutes gathering a few carts and returning them to the store.
Bring a loaf of bread to a local lake and start feeding the ducks. I can just step out my front door and throw a piece of bread on the ground and next thing you know 100 seagulls are there. ( but I don't want to deal with the doo, doo, so you may not want to do that) lol
Go Online and Google Craigs List freecycle. It's a site where people are just trying to get rid of stuff they don't need for free and you can get rid of some of your stuff for free. Someone else's junk could be your treasure.
So these are just some ideas. If you have an idea of your own of free entertainment let us know when you sign in for the day.
But most important plan you can make is to have a plan of what you are gonna do if you get tempted to drink or drug. Call a friend in recovery first, get to a meeting or come here to SR and post a new Thread that says "I need to be talked out of a drink or drug now please help". It works. I have seen it work. So take responsibility for yourself this weekend and love yourself and give yourself a chance.
*Song for the Day! cat
Prayers for raku, karissaleigh for a bit more inspiration
I hope if you had a slip or are struggling that you won't let it keep you from coming back and starting over.
If you are having good days in early recovery, let us know when you Sign In and tell us about it. Love to hear stories of hope.
Here' s to another 24 hours!!
