Memorial Day is always hard; to others it’s about days off and cookouts. To me, I’m reminded of a very special person in my life, who lost his life 8 years ago in Iraq defending our freedom. I’ve always used this day as another excuse to drink…this time, I’m thinking of the good memories and thanking God for so many brave men and women like Nathaniel.

Signing in for another 24 hours. Had a bit of a rough day last night - I'm staying at my sisters and she had a BBQ, but although there were afew not drinking, everyone else was - I don't know everyone well yet but they do know I'm in recovery - they were just trying to be nice and encouraging me to participate in drinking games (I was just drinking cola) and not leaving me out, and by the evening I felt a little better, but the first few hours were so so hard, I just felt like such an oddball.
I know the best thing would be to not have gone, but since I'm staying here that wasn't an option. It's hard when there are unavoidable situations like that. I just wanted to curl up and watch a film or something.

Happy Memorial Day
I first of all would like a moment of silence in remembrance of all those courageous men and women who gave their lives so that we have the freedom to post on Sober Recovery without fear of government censor.
I love this country!!
I am signing up for another 24 hours clean and sober... gonna be 86 degrees today in Denver... lovin' it!!

28 days sober, looking for another 24! Spent a great portion of last night looking at online degrees, being sober has allowed me to think about a future with out alcohol. I've wanted to go back to school for years but knew drinking would derail my plans. Happy Memorial Day and thank you to all who served!

Memorial Day Meaning – Reagan’s Speech
President Ronald Reagan is credited with reviving the practice of honoring Memorial Day and its meaning. One of his famous speeches was given at Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day in 1986.
“Today is the day we put aside to remember fallen heroes and to pray that no heroes will ever have to die for us again. It's a day of thanks for the valor of others, a day to remember the splendor of America and those of her children who rest in this cemetery and others. It's a day to be with the family and remember.

*Song For The Day
USA members Let us respect ourselves, our country and the fallen by paying them a clean and sober tribute this Memorial Day! And prayers for the families and victims in Oklahoma.
Everyone let's respect and love ourselves and stay clean and sober today.
Prayers for 1Dayatatyme (Pray for rain In Colorado) -1stepup -(strength in the early days), trikyriky (strength), medic61310 (strength)
Remember no excuse is good enough to drink or use in light of the consequences we always have to face. So if anyone offers you a drink tell them you plan to be a designated driver. They won't bother you and will respect you for it. But usually a simple No Thanks works just fine.
Here's to another 24 hours Everyone!!!! God Bless you!
Good Job medic61310 on 14 days!!
