It's Friday again! Woohooo!. I got off work early Woohooo!

Alcohol and Drugs You Promised!
You promised to make me happy, to take all the hurt away.
You promised me a lot of things
just to make me stay.

to help heal the pain.
You promised that you would keep me safe
my shelter from the rain.

You also promised other things that you forgot to say.
You promised me pain, discomfort and tears.
You promised me a past that will haunt me for years.
You promised to keep me prisoner
to never set me free.

You took a friend from me.

But one promise I had to break
was your promise to take my life.
Though you’re not human,
you have ten times the strength of man.
You bring destruction to anyone
that holds you in their hand.
I’m glad that I am rid of you
though you were hard to beat
And now I can stand tall and proud
on my own two feet.
It's sad to think of the others
that will live with your misery.

I have a heavy heart this week, but my resolve is even stronger.
My uncle, who was only 1 month older than me, was found dead in the park next to his car, on Tuesday. His autopsy showed heart failure, and almost no liver, due to alcoholism. It is the end of a tragic life, and intensifies my reason to stay sober. I feel I owe it to my family, so they don't have to feel this pain of a loved one dying too early.....he was only 50 yrs. old! My Dad's little brother....R.I.P Scotty
If anyone is contemplating drinking, please reconsider, and stay sober at least 24 hrs. in honor of Scotty.....
Thank you for being here, you all, you don't know how much it helps me. I'm in for another 24 hrs. for sure, and in fact, put me down for the whole damn weekend! I'll be checking in meanwhile......

I had played this tune earlier in another thread, but thought someone else may enjoy it..
Cause I love it, always have, but since sobriety its one of my favs. and it makes tears every time.. And we all can be someone..
