Nice post VR. I agree with a lot of what you said. External circumstances are not what got me to my bottom. It helped but it was not what did it, and in my experience, not what did t for a lot of people. Hitting the psychological bottom is absolutely critical and what it takes for each person is different. I am a huge believer in the idea that if ur done ur done and if your not your not.
For me though, the big thing is not being done but staying done!!!
What I found interesting is how you said they guy decided he was done and ha been sober 10 years. But he's at a mtg sharing his story? Are you sure he wasn't just talking about how he got the willingness to get sober and then he went into what he did to stay sober? Just some food for thought.

OK so where the heck is Sazzle.
Dee good to see you here. You are a tough man! Hope your are feeling better if that is possible. Lots of people thinking about you here.
I'm here as usual. Just over a week and it will be a year. Can't believe it.

Awesome, VR. I'm worried about Sazzle too. She's been around for too long to simply disappear and never come back. I'm sure she will come back again, on her own terms and when she is ready. That's the nature of this forum I guess.
One year, coming up for us, pretty darn exciting, isn't it?!

One year ago was my first day sober!
All Saints' Day.
I did not choose the last day to drink. That day one year ago, I pretty much forgot it was Halloween until a girl dressed as an angel walked into the emergency room. Or maybe it was a real angel?

Congrats on a year. I'm almost there too.
Congrats to everyone at or close to a year. Pretty cool to see. 1 year for me yesterday. Last year about this time I was posting about drinking in the car in the church parking lot while the kids were at religious education. That had nothing to do with me quitting as I drank for years after that, but it is one of the things I remember the most. One of my least proud moments.
Thanks Dee, SR and everyone here for the support and the sharing. Be well.

Hi everyone!
I'm still clean and sober. Just checking in. My clean date is November 25th, 2012. And I'm still going at it!
I've been off cigarettes/nicotine since August 18th, 2013 as well!
Life is good! Sorry I haven't been around as much, I've been busier of late, but I'll make more of an effort to stick around. Thanks for all the help!
