I tried to quit every week for 15 years DV...some of those times I tried very hard indeed.

What held me back is for another post...but the point is I kept trying.
Eventually I realised what I had to do and what I had been doing wrong...and I made it.

Don't give up.
D

well... it is so easy to cave into temptation, especially with 2 problem drinkers in the house with beer in the fridge. But, I am really trying to give my will up to God...I am thinking positive, and coming here for support helps so much! thanks

DV......quit messing around....AA time for you.
You can find members who understand and
who are willing to help you to stop this cycle.

Of course you are depressed....so was I when
I committed myself to AA.

As soon as my horrific de tox was done....on Day 4
I went to a meeting.
I went to one today too.....many years later.

My healing and recovery required action and chamge.
I bet yours will too..

Rose.....

That must be a very hard situation.....living with drinkers
when you are trying to remain sober.

I am wondering.....have you considered Al anon?
I found it useful when dealing with my young adult
childrens various addictions.

They did not live with me..but ....I was affected.

Who knows? perhaps it would benefit you.
I sure hope so.

I know I'm so sick of letting myself and others down. I really can't do this anymore. I don't even care about feeling physically terrible, it's the mental part that absolutely kills me. Shame, guilt, anger. My thinking is: The only thing that makes it better, is what causes it in the first place... That's crazy. It's not getting me anywhere but back to the dark place I was and another day
one. I'm over feeling like that.

So I will not drink today.
I will go to AA today.
I won't feel sorry for myself.

I swear, I am going to fly up there and kick you a**. If not that, I'll take you to a damn meeting myself. Get out of the pity party. ..it just sucks you in more. and you are just going to keep spiraling down. But why am I bothering to tell you that, cuz YOU ALREADY KNOW IT.

Don't be worried about letting other people down, DV. To thine own self be true.

Thanks Carol

I can't believe the sick feelings I am having. They have helped me realise that I am actually addicted though. I hope I feel better soon. I was drinking usually 3 glasses a day of red wine, sometimes more, never much less. Many times I tried to cut back or restrict access to it but this is the first time I have actually admitted to myself and to my husband that I know I have a major problem.
Any tips for nausea ??

I'm in the same boat as you... Day 4 for me. I am coming off a good 3 day bender that ended Saturday Night (at least I think, Blacked out) I am just starting to feel somewhat good again. I get up every morning and feel a little better. I have been to 3 AA meetings in the last 3 days, and that helps also. I feel better when leaving. I'm not sure what works for you but for me Bananas, fruit, Lots of Gatorade. Eat a good meal, even if you have to force it in.

Hope this helps

Well......for me.....I find sipping room temperature tea
or Ginger Ale.....munching on Saltines helps with nausea .

For de toxing....try several small healthy meals...like ...Oatmeal
Scrambled eggs....Toast.
Water is really good too.

Yes! you too can win over alcohol.....
Keep moving forward K8E

Feeling less sick today. I woke up feeling pretty bright.
Feels good to have another day under my belt and to keep shutting down the little voices in my head trying to tell me I don't have a problem. SHUT UP voices, I know I do : )
