a healthier more productive future....
SR members are all about peer support and we can assist you.
Me? My recovery consists on daily contact with my God

All I find immensley beneficial for my well being...
Please do share whatever works for you...ask questions
Early recovery can be difficult...you need not be alone.

Hi Everybody,
I'm winding down on day 5. About through detox I guess. I slept pretty good last night. Still a little woozy in the head but hopefully that will go soon.
Hey has anybody else noticed less chest congestion?
Before I quit beer I was coughing and spittin' every other breath. After 5 days that's almost gone. Still there but a very noticeable difference.
I figure I might have been retaining fluid from so much beer. I dunno'.
Anyway thanks to SR I'm glad to be to day 5.
Thanks bunches.

Early recovery can be difficult, as Carol said, but thanks to sites like this we don't have to go thru it alone.
Good for you, Beerbgone! Five days is a good start and yes, it should be the end of your physical w/d. Keep it up, one day at a time - it gets better!

beerbgone,
I coughed all the time. I smoked a few cigs a day at nite when drinking. When I stopped drinking (and smoking) the cough went a way. I think it was more from stomach acid and acid reflux then it was from the cigs.
Congrasts on your sober time.

Hi! Yesterday was 2 weeks for me. I went to a baseball game Saturday night and did not drink. Me and husband had a great time togethter. And I didnt have to try to act like I wasnt drunk infront of my mom when I picked my daughter up. I've noticed the chest congestion. I think alcohol increases your mucous. When I drank I smoked and I have bad sinuses, I would be a mess. still smoke a few cigs but trying to stop that too. But I wanna focus on the drinking first.
Hi all. Day 3 here. I attended my first AA meeting last night. I am so very reluctant to label myself as an alcoholic, but I have tried to moderate my drinking to 2 glasses of wine at a sitting and it most definitely has not worked.
I'm 52. Been drinking since I was a teen and have probably never gone more than a week or two without (except when pregnant, thank God). I came to SR originally because I needed support for issues with my son in the F&F forum, but I have come to realize that I must be an alcoholic, too. Most nights when I choose to drink (almost every night) I stop at one or two. No problem. But every so often -- partying with friends or being upset by some situation -- I'll drink 'til I'm very drunk. I do this maybe twice a month. I have driven drunk many times. I have done many stupid things while drunk. Lately I've felt that I'm not being a good mother to my 16 yr old daughter because of my drinking and this is where I draw the line. She has assured me on many occassions that my drinking habits are not a problem for her (she doesn't see me 'drunk' very often, but has on occassion).
I'm just done.
I don't like it anymore.
I want to quit.
So here I am.... Day 3.... with a "Desire Chip" in my pocket.
