Hey Bubble Bugs Champ! I haven't tried any of the games yet. Maybe that's something I should do this weekend to keep myself occupied, body and mind, if it is raining outside.

Good Morning all on a supposed "jinxed" day. Not for me I promise myself. Rained earlier & last night, but it has signs of clearing up. Hubby left for his funeral this AM & won't be back til Sunday night. Planning on going shopping for myself (shopping in this area is limited to some low-end stores so I won't spend too much money) and making myself some special dinners, just for me. Maybe steak one night? Think I'll peruse Food Network website for something special. For now, its off to the treadmill. Feeling good this morning. Completed 100% both the daily crossword and the jumble!! Anyone else addicted to crosswords? (I have a xwrd book in several rooms in my house as well as the car!)

Asta....I did Crosswords with much pleasure
until my eye disease took my reading ability away.
I agree....it's a fascinating hobby.

My Grandmother did them too and she made me special
simple ones when I was in grade school.

BTW-I use a speaking program .. donated by the Lions
Club in order to still use my computer. It reads....
Technology is simply awesome!

Shopping? I found the best deal at Dollar General today.
I have no idea if you have that chain where you live.

Anyway......for $1 each ....small bottles of spray fragrances.
Not imitation...the real deal.
I bought a TABU something I like for cool weather.
Also my other treat....a bag of Cream Drops only found
at the holiday season.

Before shopping....a CAT scan to compare with my other
2 months ago. I go back to the lung specialist
next Thursday for results. No indication of cancer
thus far. It's a small spot...likely caused by the
same crap that is in both my eyes. ....
Ocular Histoplmosis Syndrome

Well done for all of us who are moving forward

Carol, that is awesome about the speaking program that allows you use of your computer. Iwill keep you in my prayers. You are an inspiration to me.

I use to do crossword puzzles all the time, I even brought a book to rehab when I went. I haven't done any in quite a few months, but thanks for the reminder, I still have the books, I will take them out again and do them.

How is everyone doing today? This was not a jinx day for me, I am still sober and very grateful. I also collected my first full time paycheck in over 2 years. YAY

Enlata, we also have a Nov.2009 class if you are interested......... welcome!!

I used to do crosswords alot. My dad is in his 80's and does them to keep his mind sharp. Sometimes we do some of the hard ones on the phone together......he will ask me to google something for him....lol. He is a great dad and friend.....wish we lived closer.

Well day 8 coming to a close......no problems.....kept busy. Went out to a Thai restaurant with a gal pal......felt weird not bringing a bottle of wine....surprisingly enough, yet again......I had a wonderful time without it. Better really! Hard to believe.

Way to go on the big paycheck Believe!!!!!

SOOOOOO, Asta, what did you buy today???

Where are you Mirage???

Hope the new room thing goes good for ya TB........things need to settle down in that life of yours, ha? :ghug3

We have a Dollar General, Carol. That sounds like a pretty neat little deal with the perfumes........may have to investigate!!

Hi all, and especially you EnlataMak. Welcome! Carol, all I can say is you are amazing! I don't know how I would handle the challenges you cope with apparently very well. Fantastic. We don't have Dollar General here in Oregon, in my neck of the woods anyway, but we do have a Dollar Tree. I go in there occasionally for cards and seasonal items. They really stock a big supply of Xmas stuff. One time I got a set of 2 very decent scissors for $1. Cool.
I did some clothes shopping at WalMart. I got 2 nice fall/winter tops and a night shirt for a grand total of $26 (no sales tax in Oregon). Plus bought candy, but won't talk about that. (Oops) More importantly, however, I then went to the grocery store by myself since hubby is out of town and bought provisions for the week, including a steak and lamb chops just for me this weekend and did not buy one drop of alcohol. I passed it by in 2 aisles and kept on walking. In OR you can only buy beer and wine in grocery stores, spirits are controled thru state supervised liquor stores. Haven't been there since 11/4. They are probably thinking I moved or something. LOL. Congrats everyone on another day. And VC, we are actually into week 2. Yay!

Morning everyone......!!!!!!!!!!

So my "Romeo" is coming home tonight. (they named him that at hunting camp due to his many calls to me...lol) I am still curious how it will be without me drinking.........he is not a heavy drinker..........but wonder if he will follow my example or what.......guess I will soon find out. I don't think it will be a temptation for me....I feel too good and have come too far these last 9 days to just blow it because he came home....I can do this.........I can do this.........I can do this. LOL.

Have a splendid Saturday, stay strong or post..........my new motto.

Mirage, take your minute, if you need it...

The way I figure, this here sober thingy (yeah, I swear I have an education) won't work unless you *feel* it anyways... merely sobering up for show is, well, merely sobering up for show.

VC!! I feel like putting a lot of exclamation points, even though I'm one of those people who really doesn't like to see that. You deserve it, lady.

Everyone with their Romeos... sheesh. Can I have one?...

Guess I'm not into the lingo yet. What is "lurking"? Hanging around bars? I feel quite stupid.
Made it thru last nite. Had my lamb chops and some creamed mushrooms. Yum. Going to do chores today & probably tomorrow. I really think being more connected to this community is making it easier for me. Thank you to EVERYONE for all your support and encouragement. You all feel like friends.

beautiful new day...

Hey all!

Best wishes to everyone on this weekend - and thanks for being here. Well, I'm back on Day 2 of sobriety. Again. I'm in my late 20's, been drinking for about a decade, heavily drinking (couple bottles of wine every other day) for the last year, and have made numerous attempts to quit...
I had success with AA about 6 months ago, and was sober for 45 days. But then, convinced myself that I could have a beer like every one else...and 6 months later here I am - yikes!
So why is this go different? I suppose I'm kind of in 'now of never' mentality. I have no more excuses left: no excuse to say 'oh tomorrow I'll quit...or after this week' etc. I'm ruining my health, I can't think clearly, I'm just about out of money, and I'm wasting this beautiful gift of life.
Right now I'm living in a beautiful little city outside of the U.S., but instead of exploring and learning, I lock myself up in my place with some booze and drink the afternoon / night away. How sad!
So it's a bit hard trying to get sober here - without AA meetings and such - but thank GOD for this forum (literally). I know you guys will help me stay accountable...

Here's to a beautiful sober (and I'll admit, a bit difficult; I'm feeling some anxiety / lonliness) 24 hours.

Besos!

RoseSalud-I am reading this book my daughter bought me: Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. It's a woman's solo journey to 3 very different parts of the world. Kind of a journal, self discovery. I'm about 1/2 through. It's very thought provoking and a very good read. You might really identify with it. Anyway, its available on Amazon.com. Doesn't matter if you are on Day 2 or Day 100 - just don't drink today and plan on not drinking tomorrow. I am on day 9 amazingly enough and feel really positive this time that it might stick. Keep reading and posting!! (I had to look up Besos - I take it you are in a spanish speaking country?) :ghug2
