I have to say, I think this thanks idea is bollox. I understand the sentiment behind it, however I can't really see the use in it. Cluttering up the board to say thanks for someone sending a (((hug))) seems like overkill to me.

What I would find really useful is to be able to recommend an individual post and be able to look up those with lots of recommendations. The sticky posts are rarely updated and are placed there at the discretion of the mods. And it is often the case that the wisdom is in the reply, rather than the OP. All these nuggets tend to get relegated to the basement and it is obvious that most people don't have time to go digging around in there.

Just my 2 cents.

* lol * that's cuz I had a relapse in my thank-a-lism disease and spent half the night with DWI running around making sure everybody had at least one thankyou.

Glad to be a a good laugh to most of you. Just once again proves my
theory as to how some may use this feature.
Mike as a Mod who locks out threads for insults I found one of your
comments to me insutlting as well.
I do not have time to use reverse physcology on anyone let alone in
this thread. I feel that when I reply to any thread here it is in the
sincere hope that I can help someone or share somthing from my
experience that my help as well.
I personally don't give a rats arse what happens with this feature,
that as Minnie pointed out takes up a lot of space...I will continue
to thank and hug everyone as I always have by words and icons(my
stand in for actions) without the use of the thanks button.
Have fun with the new little toy....too bad it isn't being used as
Morning Glory said it was intended...

Excellent observations, and worthy of a new post so they are not lost in the middle of this thread. We can have a "sticky post update week" where everybody gets to review the existing stickies, recommend new ones and us ops can get it done.

My sincerest apology. I never meant to insult you in any way. I have the deepest respect for you and your recovery. I had no intention of offending you at all. Please tell me what you want done with my post and I'll remove it immediately if that is your wish.

Minnie I wonder why you didn't get a thank you from Mike for that
wonderful "observation" you made....hmmmm somehow this thank you
thing seems to be quite selective.

ooops, you're right. I haven't pushed the thankyou button all day. And yes, the whole button deal is clearly inconsistent and arbitrary.

Mike I am a true believer in freedom of expression. This is how you felt so I am glad to know it. I have fairly tough skin and can take a lot, I dish it out so therefore I try to take it as well.
FD started another thread thanking the original poster for the thanks thread. In fact she verbally thanked everyone with the exception of Patty. I feel I have been made the fool of the thread for my simple expression/opinion of what I thought of it.
I personally feel that this forum is a great catalist
for learning to communicate with others. If we start having buttons to express ourselves it will take away the fine art of conversing albeit in print. I have no problem with thanking someone or hugging someone I do it all the time with the wonderful icons this forum provides. Maybe and just a thought a THANK YOU icon can be inserted, I think it would have the same affect and be less invasive. I do find that all of the thank you listings do take up a lot of space. I for one do not care who has thanked me I am just trying to help if I can...no reverse physcology intended there.

Oh, Patty. I didn't mean to insult you. It was just may way of letting you know that I heard you when you said you didn't like the new thank-you feature in Aquianna's thread, and I was respecting your opinion and your wishes. But in my attempt to be funny, I inadvertantly insulted you. That was never my intention. I have the utmost respect for you.

My intention was not to use the Thank-You feature in response to your posts so as to not offend you. That is what I intended to convey. So sorry for the confusion and any hurt feelings I may have caused.

Someone took a lot of time out of their day to install this with the thought and care that it would be useful. I hope they don't read this thread.

I don't think that anyone at SR has ever intentionally changed anything to offend anyone. Usually when upgrades or features are installed it is with the thought that it will benefit members.

When this feature was discussed the thought never occurred to us that it would be used as a contest or cause someone to feel insecure or left out. It was added with good intentions. I've used it on other forums and this never came up.

I spent a couple of hours searching the templates and was able to edit out the counting feature. If it is still something that bothers you all you need to do is ask and I'll change it or turn it off. You need to give me more than a minute though. I run a business, watch my grandchildren when my daughter works, have a suicidal son that relapsed recently and sometimes it takes me a day to get to it.

If you all decide you want it turned off in this forum just let the mods know and please realize that there are real live people that work on these things who have feelings also.

Thanks MG; for your reply and your service to us on this board. Sounds like you have more than a full-plate without your work here.

I didn't like the thank you at first (no big deal) but I kinda do now.

Why not try it a month and then decide. What does it "hurt"? JMHO

Jill, thank you for saying that. I must have been a little sensitive
the last few days...of all people I know you would never intentionally
say or do anything to hurt me....
I know for a fact that I am not the only one who feels the thank you
option would not be used as it was so intended, simply by the number
of pm's I received in my mailbox the last couple of days.
I think the counter missing is a good start. As I suggested maybe a
thank you icon could be installed I would personally use that, but nothing
wrong with typing a few letters in a post...thank you.
