Ok my turn, I am 28, 5'7'' with wavy/curly medium brown hair that I am sorry to say is getting mostly grey (family inheritance, my dad was completely grey at 30 yikes!).

I have always loved music of all shapes and sizes! I love the works of Chopin and Gustav Mahler amoung others and love Radiohead, the Manic Street Preachers (a cool band from South Wales) and Bon Jovi (my first crush!) I have dabbled in many instruments and am self taught and can play guitar, descant and bass recorder, clarinet, piano, cello, violin and my all time favourite the flute.

I got pregnant at 17 and decided to keep my baby, who I have raised alone until I met xabf 4 years ago. She will be 10 this June. I returned to college when she was 3 months old and continued my education and went to university to study mathematical physics. I have had jobs in supermarkets and shops (want to be around finance) and have been a care/support worker to those with learning/physical disabilities, I now work in the public sector in a finance team and my employer will be sponsoring me to return to my studies to gain qualifications to be an accountant!

I own my home, which is in the city (sigh) a 1850's build 3 bedroomed terraced house, with front and back concreted yards! The house I own is the same one I was brought home from the hospital to when I was born. I moved away from it at 12/13 when my parents took on the jobs of licensee/manager of a public house, I lived on top of pubs for 6/7 years (hmmm...), the house was rented out to my uncle and then my sister and her friends while they were at university and two years ago my parents sold it to me! I have some plants in my back yard, including a pretty big tree grown from the top of a pineapple (doesn't fruit unfortunately!)

I have one daughter, who is 9, one sister 3 yrs older than me, mum and dad, my sister is married with boy and girl twins who will be 2 in Nov. We are a very close family and usually spend most weekends together. My sister and I actually work for the same organisation although in different sections!

Since my xabf has moved out I have plans for my house. I will have a spare room and I am planning on creating a creative environment where we can practice music (my daughter has begun learning clarinet). I am going to save up for additional furniture and decorate. I am a bhuddist and have a shrine in my house where I can sit and meditate and recieve inspiration from the statues and images of the bhuddas. I read alot. I am currently interested in spiritual healing and growth and I am studying Dharma and Chinese philosophy, combining these with the catholic teachings I received as a child.

Well this has been a fun thread to go through!

Another artist. . . I'm a graphic designer. I'm also going to grad school for interactive design, and I teach! I've always been creative- I make jewelry, I sew, garden and love working on my house-not afraid to tear things down and redo. I also dabble in painting and crafty things with my daughter- she's 10 and the love of my life.

I'm shortish-5'4"- dark brown hair and eyes- not Spanish, but I LOVE Mexico and speak some Spanish. I'm actually Italian- from my dad's side. I love to cook- like all good Italians- and love to eat.

I have a very active Jack Russell Terrier who gets me out 2x a day-even in winter, which I am really getting sick of. I love walking, running, biking, hiking, camping, and I'm learning how to cross country ski. . . and one of these days I'm going to learn how to knit.

It's been fun reading about all of you, but this thread has also made me think about who I am. . . something I'm trying to do more of. Thanks FD!

sorry i'm so slow to join this one - i spent the last few days relaxing at a spa!

i'm 24 years old, about 5'6", dark hair, green eyes. i was born and raised in chicago, although i've also lived in nashville and new york city. i hold an educational specialist degree (30 hours past masters) and i'm a school psychologist in the chicago suburbs. i'm on spring break right now... phew!

i have a 7 pound maltese named tucker, who's had some health problems and a pretty expensive surgery recently but he seems to be all healed and that's all i could hope for! i live with my roommate in an apartment that we painted ourselves, and we weren't quite aware how bright "seafoam green" would turn out until our living room was already painted.

in my spare time, i read A LOT (currently reading an older john irving book - a widow for one year), watch movies, and i've recently developed a new obsession with exercising. i'm a big fan of the chicago cubs and i'm hoping that this is the year!

oh... and i can touch my tongue to my nose and i love spicy foods.

thanks, jill, for starting this one!

Barbara, have you read the book "Simple Abundance?" My sister read it and loved it and bought me a copy as a gift. It helped me to appreciate the simpler things in life.

Def, love love love the photo.

Pajarito, my artistic, crafty, and Mexican loving friend, have you ever thought of selling your creations on Etsy.com? It's a website were crafters from all over the world sell their hand-made creations. If you haven't visited it before, check it out. I'd also like to mention my favorite blog by a Mexican artist named Geneen: blogdelanine.blogspot.com. She not only shares her fabulous creations (watercolors, collage, sewing, ceramics, and more), but she shares glimpses of her life in beautiful Mexico.

As you can see, once the word, "art" is mentioned my heart just begins to sing.

My reading stack is huge. Lots of books about recovery and dogs; kind of a strange combination, but it suits me to a "T." Simple Abundance was written by Sarah Ban Breathnach. I hope you enjoy it. You know, Barb, we're actually neighbors

FD- I LOVE the blog! It is a visual treat! B/4 all hell broke loose last fall I had been saving for a trip w/AH and daughter to go to Mexico this spring. Well, now that money is stashed away for my "new" life- wherever that may be. I'm going to have to sell our house, so I am trying to be frugal. However- one of these days I am going to go to Mexico again, and who knows- maybe live there too.

The journals on the blog are amazing- makes me think I need to make mine more visual. I've been writing like a maniac but not drawing or coloring in them. I think it says something about how much pain I'm in- just need to get it out in writing. I can feel myself slowly being drawn to creating again, though. I've been busy, but I shouldn't be too busy to make beautiful things. The Etsy site is something I've seen. A wonderful friend has a store in Iowa that features art and other things made by artists, so I make my jewelry for her. She showed me Etsy. This forum is such an amazing place to go for inspiration. Thanks so much for continuing to lead the way. :ghug3

Gosh - you guys all seem so exciting! This thread has made me really think of myself...thanks for that.

Anyways - I'm 38 (still in my 20's in my mind), 5'7 and I fight the overweight battle constantly. My hobbies are reading, surfing the net reading interesting message boards, growing flowers and veggies and I've started to dabble in cooking.

I got married when I was barely 18 to my first REAL boyfriend and was married for 13 years. I have one son from that marriage and he is my basketball star. He is 15 going on 25. I walked away from that marriage in 2000 and have never looked back...lived in a 2 bedroom trailer for a couple of years, barely got by but now own my own home and take great pride in that.

I work for an environmental organization and have been here for 15 years. I love my job and I love that I make a difference in the world.

I have lost myself during the past 2 years in this relationship I've been in, however, I plan on changing that. I'm going to focus on ME and get back to where I need to be.

I will play too……:bounce:

I stand 5’5’ and ¾ (A quarter girl not a half ) 39 years old and staying that way! (Never growing up!) I have brown curly/wavy hair (Wow a lot of curly heads in this forum-we must be special!) and blue eyes

I work as an office manager for a Construction and Millwork Company-We build fine furniture/Kitchens/ just about anything you name it we build it! I also run my own Avon business-which is slowly growing-(Not as fast as I would like but, I get great stuff for less now so I’m happy!)

I'am a widow-I lost the love of my life 3 months after we were married-We met in 7th grade-(dated just out of High School) and got married-he was my soul mate-(Not an A but, then began my dating of A's).

I have one Lhasa Apso-Samantha who just celebrated her 17th birthday last Friday-I put her mother down back in June-3 days after her 18th birthday (Very sad) I spend any free moment that I can with Samantha-

(A positive note)I’m dating a wonderful caring, compassionate man that I actually met back up with at my class reunion last year. (We were good friends in High School) Things are going well or should I say the way a relationship should be! He is not an A which is a big change for me!-He is a Coastal engineer for the state and cleans up our Jersey Shores! We understand each other (wow!) and that is a great thing!

He loves animals as much as I do and has a husky/lab that he saved from NYC as it was found outside a dumpster. He has a Harley which we jump on and cruise around on-the fresh air and open road I never thought I would ever do that on anything other than a horse or bicycle!

I love to read-enjoy the beaches, horseback, shopping, love to travel (Planning to go to Italy next year!) car shows-we attend benefits for animals-and we do a lot of charity rides to raise money for children/disease and homeless animals.(Boyfriend and I and of course the Harley) I make jewelry in my little bit of spare time and have sold quite a few pieces.

I have a passion for scrap booking-it is so enjoyable to make memories books –that tell beautiful stories. Because today my life is beautiful as I work on recovery-I create lasting memories that are more meaningful-to me today-

Recovery has been a process for me-just like others I have had my slips-when I really took the bull by the horns-it was the best choice I ever made! I have been growing each day-I’m a work in progress and loving every minute of it!

It is funny-I noticed in LaTeeDa’s post in regards to seeing how dysfunctional family is-as we recover more and change. The people around me notice the change and grace me with kind wonderful words(Friends, co-workers, my sister)-My family-however,(some of them) say how negatively I have changed-(Funny) and today I sit back and I actually laugh-because I also understand how I became so dysfunctional as I row out of the wreckage!

Health wise I’m not doing as great as of late been run down-tired and just not feeling well in general-but “this too shall pass”They found a tumor on my colon which I will be having surgery this month for it to be removed. It is just another boulder that is on its way to being pushed out of the way and another change for the better-as I learn a different diet and way of living! I know that my HP has plans for me and I'm willing, ready and open for them!

Recovery is life and I love life today! Turning the page everyday and not looking back....one day at a time

Thank you for this post Jill!

Sorry Prodie tried to make it short and easy to read-Something I need work on: smaller posts! LOL

Well it's nice to read and get to know a little bit about everyone. Lots of artists, indeed.

Well I am 5'1, medium length brown curly/wavy hair with blonde highlights, hazel eyes. I am told I have a nice smile (I take pride in my pearly whites) and pretty eyes. I have a dimple on the one side of my face.

I work for an intermediate school district. I am an assistant to the administrators in the Special Education Department. I am on the computer all day long, doing a lot of paperwork, but I really enjoy my job and the people that I work with. I was in a different department, but applied for this position and God answered my prayers and must have wanted me to be here. I now have an office with a window, I can't tell you how much of a difference that makes in my day.

I have a 9 year old son, who is the most handsome boy in the world (in my eyes anyway). He looks a lot like his dad (my husband) who passed away when he was only 15 months old. He is all boy, loves to fish and be outdoors, loves bugs and in the summer you will find him outside picking up rocks or logs to find bugs.

Well let's see....my hobbies include scrapbooking and photography. I love taking pictures, and a few of mine photos were in the paper (honorable mention) for an annual photo contest. I like to be outdoors, I love camping, fishing, hiking, riding 3 wheelers, yardwork, gardening, planting flowers.

Lately I have been trying to love our mother earth, and am interested in learning more about how we can better protect her. I saw a great movie called "Arctic Tales" (which is a great movie by the way, if you like animals) and at the end there was a segment about global warming, very interesting.

I am into being healthy, and have recently gotten a treadmill and just ordered an elliptical machine online (that I should get this week). So I have been exercising again and absolutely love it!

My family was quite disfunctional growing up, my dad is an alcoholic and my mom codependent. But I am trying to break the cycle, and feel that I have made strides in my own recovery. Like Joyce Meyers says..."I'm not where I want to be, but thank God I'm not where I was." I wasn't raised as a Christian, but have been attending Church for over a year now and have been saved. It has taken me awhile but I think in about the last 2 months, have really started to have a close relationship to God, and he reveals things to me on a daily basis. I can feel changes in myself, and am excited about growing even more.

I like to watch movies, spend time with my friends, bonfires.....I absolutely love fall and winter but it's also nice to experience all of the seasons. I recently watched "Into the Wild", and found it to be very powerful.
