Well - this is funny.
IQ distribution charts show anything above 115 is in the top 15% percent of the population.
So, if you have 100 people only 15 of them will have IQs higher than 115.
So, something is a little bit strange here.
I know I'm smart because I managed to drink myself into a rancid hole. LOL

There's a fairly recent study, out of England I think, that shows high IQ is strongly correlated to the risk of alcoholism. The smarter you are, the more likely you are to drink heavily.
It makes sense in that the greater your capacity to apprehend your circumstances, the more they'll sting. And it's also very lonely to be smarter than your peers.

Exaggerated? Statistically, there is no explanation other than people are mistaken or flat-out lying. Asking folks to self report IQ is a bit like asking men how many women they have slept with: some sort of coefficient must be applied if the results are to reflect reality.
(Obviously, there are those too, like myself, who don't believe the various IQ tests and scales are a meaningful measure of intelligence, but that isn't the subject of the poll.)

93% of American drivers rate themselves as better than the median.
You have similar findings when you ask people whether the are more clever than the average or have better humour, even if you ask whether they are more honest :-)
