Back to Black
Hang in there, Sally. You're only down if you stay down. I had a number of false starts myself ... what matters is that you keep trying and get the support you need. Are you going to be able to see your doctor soon? Sounds like you really need some help with your anxiety and to safely/comfortably detox.

Sally is there an Alcohol Action Team in your area, most if not all areas of the UK have one now and you can self refer yourself.
Meeting is a good plan for tonight but as far I can gather what you are doing now is not working as you keep drinking.
Please feel free to Pm me if you want ,so want you to find recovery.

Havent drunk today. Havent been out of bed either, which is depressing, but I felt so weak. The body takes a battering after these binges, I suppose. But at least Im stone cold sober. I hope I have the energy to get to a meeting tonight. If not there is always tomorrow.

Newcomers to Recovery - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information
Went to a meeting tonight! Everyone was really nice to me, and am so glad I went. I feel I'm getting a foothold back into recovery. Had a good supper, and lots of water, and feel physically well again. I must have an iron constitution! Unless withdrawals are around the corner...

Couldnt get to my meeting tonight. Car troubles, but I could have had a lift. I still have this peculiar resistance to going. Its always a fight... Not sure I understand this reluctance.
A lot of us are good at self sabotage Sally.
I know for a long time I felt I was a bad person and I deserved to suffer...it took a lot of work and a run of sobriety for me to really come to grips with those kinds of long held feelings...

Getting to a meeting means acknowledging you have a problem and being willing to let it go ... forever. That's a huge step for us to take and we'll often look for any reason not to take it. It's a scary proposition even though it carries with it the hope for a better life.
Whatever you do tonight, Sally ... just don't drink. Stay here on SR all night if you have to, just don't drink.

Thanks Dee..I hadnt actually thought of that. Though it makes sense, as a large part of me doesnt really want to be well, or even live. The main reason alcoholics give for wanting to be better is that they want to live, they always say in horror, time and time again "I nearly died", and that fear of death is so often what gets them into recovery. I dont have that fear of death. My life is like a wasteland.. If it wasnt for my kids I'd happily check out.
