Meanwhile, from the spider den.................

My baby Grammostola rosea (Chilean Rose Hair),
molted for the second time on Tuesday.

About 1" now, and taking crickets it's own size.

Adults are very docile and exhibit
colorful metallic pink to reddish hairs.

Wow, you two were up early!! G'morning!

Gilmer, that's funny about the old dog food. I love the looks of those French bulldogs, btw. Have considered getting one. Now we're leaning toward standard poodles after having met a few of them. They aren't what I expected at all. They were very athletic, smart dogs with good personalities. I loved them. So did my husband. Not until one of the beagles is gone though. Two dogs are plenty.

Lunar, they really are beautiful. The pink hair is nice.

Ok, beagles...

Lucy is the Black & Tan. Katie is the Tricolor.

Standard poodles are terrific dogs. My aunt had one, and I loved him.

Stately and proud.

That's a famous old riverboat in the background, from some movie.

Strange thoughts about having a drink today or wanting a drink, because I'm in a good mood. Not a nagging or crushing craving, I think I've just learned to acknowledge the thought, know I'm not going to drink and carry on. Feels kind of freeing.
Medication I'm on is causing me intensely vivid dreams all night long so I never hit deep sleep and wake up and continue talking to whomever I was talking to in the dream. It is the weirdest thing. Makes me tired tho. I think it's also helping me with the craving management but who really knows. Probably just the all round approach to real recovery. I feel more normal than I have in years. This time is definitely different. There is no struggle with my inner demons or av. Like MIR posted about closing the door forever on it, I don't know if I'm totally there yet. Just one day at a time for now I don't want to drink.

I want to post pics of my pups later. I love doggies. They are good for the heart.
Love your beagles Sp they are SO cute!!

Good for you talking yourself through the craving. One good trick is 'play the tape' through ... meaning, you imagine what's going to happen all the way through ... the likely scenario if you drink. And not an idealized version of it. The worst kinds of things. The typical drunk. It usually halts any sort of AV talk right away when you get ALL your brain involved. Since it's an impulsive craving, when we employ the other more sophisticated sides of the brain in reasoning through the larger picture, the AV shrivels in the corner.

Do post your dog pics.

My son and I just got back from seeing Weird Al in concert.

He put on a show that was phenomenal. He is just so talented. One interesting thing: he can hold a note a really long time. He's got amazing voice control.

It was the biggest blast I've had for a long time!

If he comes to your town, I definitely recommend going to see him!

Hey Everyone

I haven't had a chance to catch up on the thread so I hope you all are doing well!

Some of you may remember that I went on my first ever solo vacation to a place I had never been before!

It turned out fantastic!!! I went to Seattle and just loved it and can't wait to go back!

Now back to the grind (kidding, I actually enjoy my job ).

Gilmer, I've always wondered what he'd be like live.

Yay, Rose!! That is just awesome. So inspirational, too. I traveled solo once in Mexico, and I barely spoke any Spanish, lol. Not the savviest of travelers. It was quite an interesting experience. I've wanted to do world travel ever since. Didn't make it a priority like I should've.

Work was h - e - l - l today. Ugh. Just awful. It was Monday, which means LOTS of mail, plus we're already getting increased volumes for the holidays, mostly periodicals and packages. I am scared of what it's going to be like closer to Christmas. Yikes.

I woke up with a sore throat this morning and have had a slight headache all day. I think now I have a fever. Not a high fever, but still ... (maybe I will act like my husband when he has a fever ... totally incapacitated, whiny, and in need of much attention! Lol)

I don't go back to the PO until Saturday, yay! All last week and today I've been covering for the regular carrier as she's out on vacay. So glad she is back!

I'm working on finishing my proofreading course this month. My goal is to have it completed by the end of September. I am cracking down on myself.

Weird Al performed live; but during his costume changes, he showed a bunch of extremely amusing videos on a big screen.

My favorite was the movie trailer for "Gandhi II: This time he's out for vengeance!"

He was a scream!
