Oh, and I didn't read through this whole thread, for obvious reasons **cough, hack, Carrie Underwood***
How about "Away from the Sun" by 3 Doors Down. I listened to that a bit my last night drinking.

One of my favories about recovery is "Soul to Squeeze"-Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
I've got a bad disease
But from my brain is where I bleed.
Insanity it seems
Has got me by my soul to squeeze.
Well all the love from thee
With all the dying trees I scream.
The angels in my dreams (yeah)
Have turned to demons of greed that's mean.
Chorus:
Where I go I just don't know
I got to got to gotta take it slow.
When I find my piece of mind
I'm gonna give you some of my good time.
Today love smiled on me.
It took away my face say please
All that you had to free
You gotta let it be oh yeah.
Chorus
Oh, so polite indeed
Well I got everything I need.
Oh make my days a breeze
And take away my self destruction.
It's bitter baby,
And it's very sweet.
I'm on a rollercoaster,
but I'm on my feet.
Take me to the river,
Let me on your shore.
I'll be coming back baby,
I'll be coming back for more.
Doo doo doo doo dingle zing a dong bone
Ba-di ba-da ba-zumba crunga cong gone bad
I could not forget
But I will not endeavor
Simple pleasures aren't as special
But I wont regret it never.
Chorus
Where I go I just don't know
I might end up somewhere in Mexico.
When I find my piece of mind
I'm gonna keep you for the end of time.
I've got a bad disease
But from my brain is where I bleed.
Insanity it seems
Has got me by my soul to squeeze.

Was introduced to this song in rehab by an employee there, love it, beautiful song.
Joan Osborne
Crazy Baby
And your hands are really shakin something awful
As you light your 27th cigarette
Oh how long have you been sittin in the darkness
You forget
Oh you know you’re gettin really hard to be with
And you’re cryin every time you turn around
And you wonder why you can not pick your head up
Off the ground
Oh my crazy baby
Try to hold on tight
Oh my crazy baby
Don’t put out the light, the light,
the light, the light
And they look at you like they don’t speak your language
And you’re living at the bottom of a well
And you swallowed all the awful bloody secrets
That you can’t tell
Oh you know you ought to get yourself together
But you can not bear to walk outside your door
No, you can not bear to look into the mirror
Anymore, anymore
Oh my crazy baby
Try to hold on tight
Oh my crazy baby
Don’t put out the light, the light,
the light, the light
And your hands are really shakin something awful
As your worries crawl around inside your clothes
Ooh how long will you be sittin in the darkness
Heaven knows
Oh my crazy baby
Try to hold on tight
Oh my crazy baby
Don’t put out the light, the light,
the light, the light, the light,
the light, the light, the light,
the light, the light

Alkaline Trio - "Blue in the Face"
It's about time that I came clean with you
I'm no longer fine, I'm no longer running smooth
I thought that I found myself under something new
Just one more line I repeat over and over again
'Till I'm blue in the face with a choking regret
Because I talk in circles 'round you on my bed
Can't say I blame you one bit when you kept it all inside
When you left that night
It's about time that you got sick of me
No longer fun, and so far from interesting
I thought that I found me a cure for feeling old
Just one more line to keep me sleeping loudly and cold
In disgraced with a shameful regret
As I talk in tongues to myself in my bed
Can't say I blame you one bit when you kept it all inside
When you left that night
And all that followed fell like mercury to hell
Somehow we lost our heads for the last time
And all that followed fell like mercury to hell
Somehow we lost our heads for the last time
And I don't dream since I quit sleeping
And I haven't slept since I met you
And you can't breathe without coughing at daytime
And neither can I
So what do you say?
Your coffin, or mine?
Matt Skiba "Good F*cking Bye"
So you broke down, trying to leave town
I broke down crying on your return
You left me feeling hopefull
I'll never see your face again
Your made for a bad lover's liver
You stole all the covers and busted my head
You made me such an as*hole
I wish we'd never met
I'm tired of being bored
I'm through with the headaches
Hiding my hands that tremble like earthquakes
Under the table, under the daytime sky
Good-f*cking-bye
And when you lose hope
It's hard to cope
Watching the tyranny with sober eyes
The daybreak and sunset
All hours in between are spent murdering time
You made for a bad lover's liver
You stole all the covers and ****** up my head
You made me such an as*hole
I wish we'd never met
I'm tired of being bored
I'm through with the headaches
Hideing my hands that tremble like earthquakes
Under the table, under the daytime sky
Good-f*cking-bye

Relish is one of my favourite albums! I feel like people wrote her off because of the over-popularity of One of Us. The album is actually very bluesy, not so much pop-y. Crazy Baby was a great song. St.Theresa is another song about addiction on the record.
The modern leper by frightened rabbit
A cripple walks amongst you
All you tired human beings
He's got all the things a cripple has
Not working arms and legs
And vital parts fall from his system
And dissolve in Scottish rain
Vitally he doesn't miss them
He's too effed up to care
Well, is that you in front of me?
Coming back for even more of exactly the same
You must be a masochist to love a modern leper
On his last leg
On his last leg
Well, I crippled your heart a hundred times
And still can't work out why
You see, I've got this disease I can't shake
And I'm just rattling through life
Well, this is how we do things now
Yeah, this is how the modern stay scared
So I cut out all the good stuff
Yeah, I cut off my foot to spite my leg
Well, is that you in front of me?
Coming back for even more of exactly the same
You must be a masochist to love a modern leper
On his last leg
Well, I am ill
But I'm not dead
And I don't know which of those I prefer
Because that limb which I have lost
Well, it was the only thing holding me up
Holding me up
Well, I'm lying on the ground now
Walking through the only door
Well, I have lost my eyesight
Like I said I would
But I still know
And that is you in front of me
And you are back for even more of exactly the same
Well, are you a masochist to love a modern leper
On his last leg
And you are not ill
And I'm not dead
Doesn't that make us the perfect pair?
Just you and me
We'll start again
And you can tell me all about what you did today
What you did today
A cripple walks amongst you
All you tired human beings
He's got all the things a cripple has
Not working arms and legs

Fleet Foxes- He Doesn't know why
Penniless and tired, with your hair grown long
I was looking at you there and your face looked wrong
Memory is a fickle siren song
I didn't understand
In the gentle light as the morning nears
You don't say a single word of the last two years
Where you were when you reached the frontier
I didn't understand, no
See your rugged hands and a silver knife
Twenty dollars in your hand makes you hold so tight
All the evidence of your vagrant life
My brother you were gone.
And you will try to do what you did before
Pull the wool over your eyes
For a week or more
Let your family take you back to your original mind
There's nothing I can do
There's nothing I can do
There's nothing I can say
There's nothing I can say
I can say
Penniless and tired, with your hair grown long
I was looking at you there and your face looked wrong
Memory is a fickle siren song
I didn't understand
In the gentle light as the morning nears
You don't say a single word of the last two years
