dmx - i wish ft seal

lyrics--i wish dmx-----

I wish I could touch you, I wish I could see you.
I wish you could talk to me, cause now I wanna listen.

I wish upon a star, wish upon the night.
I wish that everything that happens in the dark, comes to the light.
I wish upon the days, wish upon the dream.
I wish that everybody only said, what they mean.
I wish I could have caught you, before you fell.
I wish nobody had to go to hell.
I wish Adam wouldn't have listened to Eve, when he bit the apple.
I wish the Ku Klux Klan didn't own Snapple.
I wish that nobody had to ever know the pain, that comes with the mental rain.
I wish that no parent ever have to bury a child.
I wish you wouldn't hurry to get wild.
I wish for so many things, in so little time.
I wish all this wishes weren't mine.
But all I can do, is wish and hope it comes true.
Pray to God and hope it comes true!
Have Faith!

I wish I could touch you, I wish I could see you.
I wish you could talk to me, cause now I wanna listen.
I wish I could be real, I wish I could meet you.
I wish you could talk to me, cause now I wanna listen.

(I feel you X. Let me tell you what I wish for.)
I'm wishin' there was no hunger or starvation.
That God'll take back the nation from Lord's sayin'.

I wish I never popped pills, that I robbed from my grandpap, dyin' in a hospital.
I wish I didn't
I wish I could physically touch or see Jesus in the flesh leavin' nothin' left in the
I'm wishin' we were focused on the hopeless, broke n', strugglin' mothers who are dope sick.
I'm wishin' New Orleans hadn't looked like an overflooded pool, with no chlorine.
I'm wishin' Bill Clinton would return and I don't care, let him get his nuts sucked through the whole turn.
I wish I wasn't so selfish, I wish ain't chase this cake, like I don't know what wealth is.

I wish I could touch you, I wish I could see you.
I wish you could talk to me, cause now I wanna listen.
I wish I could be real, I wish I could meet you.
I wish you could talk to me, cause now I wanna listen.

And the hours, and the minutes, and the seconds
Are just as important, take, nothin' for granted
And try to hold on, to LOVE, cause now I,

I wish I could touch you, I wish I could see you.
I wish you could talk to me, cause now I wanna listen.
I wish I could be real, I wish I could meet you.
I wish you could talk to me, cause now I wanna listen.

I wish I could touch you, I wish I could see you.
I wish you could talk to me, cause now I wanna listen.
I wish I could be real, I wish I could meet you.
I wish you could talk to me, cause now I wanna listen.
Listen, listen, listen, listen.

lyrics - weak and powerless apc-----

Tilling my own grave to keep me level...

Jam another dragon down the hole...

Digging to the rhythm and the echo of a solitary siren...

one that pushes me along, and leaves me so...

desperate and ravenous...

I'm so Weak and powerless over you...

Someone feed the monkey while I dig in search of china...

White as Dracula as I approach the bottom...

so desperate and ravenous.

I'm so Weak and powerless over you...

Little angel, go away...

Come again some other day...

Devil has my ear today...

I'll never hear a word you say...

He Promised I would find a little solace and some peace of mind...

Whatever. just as long as I don't feel so desperate and ravenous.

I'm so Weak and powerless over you...

"Dead Man's Rope" - Sting

A million footsteps, this left foot drags behind my right
But I keep walking, from daybreak 'til the falling night
And as days turn into weeks and years
And years turn into lifetimes
I just keep walking, like I've been walking for a thousand years

Walk away in emptiness, walk away in sorrow,
Walk away from yesterday, walk away tomorrow,

If you're walking to escape, to escape from your affliction
You'd be walking in a great circle, a circle of addiction
Did you ever wonder what you'd been carrying since the world was black?
You see yourself in a looking glass with a tombstone on your back

Walk away in emptiness, walk away in sorrow,
Walk away from yesterday, walk away tomorrow,
Walk away in anger, walk away in pain
Walk away from life itself, walk into the rain

All this wandering has led me to this place
Inside the well of my memory, sweet rain of forgiveness
I'm just hanging here in space

Now I'm suspended between my darkest fears and dearest hope
Yes I've been walking, now I'm hanging from a dead man's rope
With Hell below me, and Heaven in the sky above
I've been walking, I've been walking away from Jesus' love

Walk away in emptiness, walk away in sorrow,
Walk away from yesterday, walk away tomorrow,
Walk away in anger, walk away in pain
Walk away from life itself, walk into the rain

All this wandering has led me to this place
Inside the well of my memory, sweet rain of forgiveness
I'm just hanging here in space

The shadows fall
Around my bed
When the hand of an angel,
The hand of an angel is reaching down above my head

All this wandering has led me to this place
Inside the well of my memory, sweet rain of forgiveness
Now I'm walking in his grace
I'm walking in his footsteps
Walking in his footsteps,
Walking in his footsteps

All the days of my life I will walk with you
All the days of my life I will talk with you
All the days of my life I will share with you
All the days of my life I will bear with you

Walk away from emptiness, walk away from sorrow,
Walk away from yesterday, walk away tomorrow,
Walk away from anger, walk away from pain
Walk away from anguish, walk into the rain.

Dead Skin - Crossfade

So I'm the king of all these things
Of this mess I have made
Such a waste, what a shame
My whole life is a fake

Well I'm a bore
And I'm sure
I'm a thorn inside of you
That has torn at you for years

The alcohol
The Demerol
These things never could replace
What a minute with you could do to put a smile on my face

I'm a bore
And I'm sure
I'm a thorn inside of you
That has torn at me for years

I can't get out of this dead skin
(I can't shed my skin)
And I'm not sure where to begin
I can't get under my dead skin
(I can't shed my skin)
Can I sleep 'til then?

Phenobarbital and alcohol
These two surely will do
To knock me out
Keep me down at least a day or two

When I'm awake
I can taste, how bitter I've become
And it's more than I can bare some days
I pray someone will blow me away

Make it quick, but let it burn
So I can feel my life fade
Well, I'm a waste and I can taste, how bitter I've become
And it's more than I can bare

I can't get out of this dead skin
(I can't shed my skin)
And I'm not sure where to begin
(Why can't I begin again)
I can't get under my dead skin
(I can't shed my skin)
Can I sleep 'til then?

I can't get out of this dead skin
And I'm not sure where to begin
I can't get under my dead skin
Can I sleep 'til then?

I can't get out of this dead skin
(I can't shed my skin)
And I'm not sure where to begin
(Why can't I begin again)
I can't get under my dead skin
(I can't shed my skin)
Can I sleep 'til then?

Reminds me of my ex. This one always gets to me. Other good ones from them are Starless, Why, The Deepend, Someday, Coldm etc.
This band is pretty much one of my favorites because they help me cope.

Something I wrote when I left...

I want to wake up from this nightmare
all the dreams and plans we made
the memories of what we were becoming
before you turned and began walking to your grave
I don't feel that I pushed you, just didn't let you shove
I wish that I could have done more, shown you all my love
I protect my heart now, keep it close and hope you feel better someday
enough to come around and let me know that you have found a better way
I miss you and I love you with all my heart inside
but I had to get off the roller coaster and stop the crazy ride

X Amount of Word - Blue October
Relapse
Prevent trigger intent
Now drown
High strung
Say X amount of words

You're solar, bipolar
Panic disorder
Seems harder and harder and harder
Still you try to control it

You mold, you mold
Yeah you shape to mold
Oh you're bold you're bold
But your shape is bold

You're a symptom superficial
To what they call knowing you
Minus the speed,
Could you imagine the phobia?

Your brain is faulty wiring
the reason for tiring
Keep treating the curse,
Imagine the worst
Systematic, sympathetic
Quite pathetic, apologetic, paramedic
Your heart is prosthetic

A plate of quite peculiar
On a dish of my own
A tablespoon of feather
tickle me to the bone
Give me recipes for happy
with the chemicals gone
Drinking freedom from a bottle
to the tune of belong

I'm sick of shaking
never waking
from the hell I achieve
I never knew you till you left me
with the crying disease

Another curing, reassuring
way to buckle the knees
So mistreated, I repeated
Never blessing your sneeze

Now deleted and defeated
I will stand on my own
Yeah your memory that punches me
has broken the bone

Give me recipes for sorry
I'm admitting I'm wrong
Still your memory that punches me
has broken the bone
-----------------------------------------------
Just To Get High - NickelBack
He was my best friend, I tried to help him
But he traded everything for suffering
And found himself alone

I watched the lying, turn into hiding
With scars on both his lips, his fingertips
Were melted to the bone

But I can still remember
What his face looked like
When I found him in an alley
In the middle of the night

Tell me what you know
Tell me what you gone and done now
Tell me what you know
Tell me what you gone and done now

Gonna do the trick, get it over with
You're better off to take all that
You've got and burn it on the spot
Just to get high

Three days no sleeping, he gave up eating
He sold his mother's rings, she said nothing
And pretended not to know

He started stealing to supply the feeling
Found out he pulled a knife on someone's wife
And held it to her throat

But I can still remember
What his face looked like
When I found him in an alley
In the middle of the night

Tell me what you know
Tell me what you gone and done now
Tell me what you know
Tell me what you gone and done now

Gonna do the trick, get it over with
You're better off to take all that
You've got and burn it on the spot
Just to get high

Tell me what you did, where you gone and hid?
Show me what you really want, was it what you got?
Slowly circle in the drain, throw it all away
Just to get high, high, high, oh

Tell me what you know
Tell me what you gone and done now
Tell me what you know
Tell me what you gone and done now

Gonna do the trick, get it over with
You're better off to take all that
You've got and burn it on the spot
Just to get high

Tell me what did, where you gone and hid?
Show me what you really want, was it what you got?
Slowly circle in the drain, throw it all away
Just to get high, just to get high
Circle in the drain, throw it all away
Just to get high

Got to give it up

"Got to give it Up" by Thin Lizzy

this one really captures the desperation of a person very near the bottom

This song helps me....

Stuck In a Moment You Can't Get Out Of
U2
Album: All That You Can't Leave Behind

I'm not afraid of anything in this world
There's nothing you can throw at me that I haven't already heard
I'm just trying to find a decent melody
A song that I can sing in my own company

I never thought you were a fool
But darling, look at you
You gotta stand up straight, carry your own weight
These tears are going nowhere, baby

You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment and now you can't get out of it
Don't say that later will be better now you're stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it

I will not forsake, the colors that you bring
But the nights you filled with fireworks
They left you with nothing
I am still enchanted by the light you brought to me
I listen through your ears, and through your eyes I can see

And you are such a fool
To worry like you do
I know it's tough, and you can never get enough
Of what you don't really need now ... my oh my

You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment and you can't get out of it
Oh love look at you now
You've got yourself stuck in a moment and you can't get out of it

I was unconscious, half asleep
The water is warm till you discover how deep
I wasn't jumping for me it was a fall
It's a long way down to nothing at all

You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment and you can't get out of it
Don't say that later will be better now
You're stuck in a moment and you can't get out of it

And if the night runs over
And if the day won't last
And if our way should falter
Along the stony pass

And if the night runs over
And if the day won't last
And if your way should falter
Along the stony pass
It's just a moment
This time will pass

There are a few I know that I don't think I saw yet: Perfect Circle - Gravity; Korn -Coming Undone; Godsmack - Shinedown; Styx - Snowblind; Shinedown - Save Me. These are all addiction ones. I know a few recovery ones: I Can See Clearly Now - Jimmy Cliff; Incubus - Dig; Live - Pain Lies on the Riverside; Syntax - Bliss (Long Version); Incubus - Drive. Will post more when I remember them. I hope these are of use to someone! Please e-mail me if you'd like the lyrics to any of them.

So I Was Thinking I Needed to Say Something...

On this one, and then as I was scrolling through, I see I already did a couple of years ago (AARGHH! Hope it's not Alzheimer's!).

So I'm back, a little older and a little fartier (but still clean and sober, 29 big ones in a few days), so I'll add a couple . . . For those who survived the 60's even though they inhaled . . .

The first is that ol' ho'gut lament, House of the Rising Sun, done by various artists including Bob Dylan and Woodie Guthrie, but Eric Burdon retired the trophy on that one (saw him on PBS the other night, and the #1 Animal appears to be surviving):

And the only thing a gambler needs is a suitcase and a trunk,
And the only time he's satisfied is when he's on a drunk.

Speaking of Dylan, there's Subterranean Homesick Blues and Mr. Tambourine Man, rendered platinum by Roger McGuinn and David Crosby with the Byrds (who also did Eight Miles High; can't forget that one). Dylan put those two on the flip sides of the Bringing It All Back Home album, and I'm pretty sure there's a message there . . .

And there's another John Prine piece that's missing so far, "Sam Stone":

Sam Stone came home to his wife and family,
After serving in a conflict overseas.
And the time that he served had shattered all his nerves,
And left a little shrapnel is his knee.
But the morphine eased the pain,
And the grass grew round his brain,
And gave him all the confidence he lacked,
With a Purple Heart and a monkey on his back.

(chorus)

There's a hole in Daddy's arm where all the money goes,
And Jesus Christ died for nothing I suppose.
Little pitchers have big ears; can't stop to count the tears,
And sweet songs never last too long on broken radios

Hmm. I see somebody is trying to claim Puff the Magic Dragon is about some early Stone Age pot smokers, but I heard it from Peter Yarrow's lips himself (along with hearing him sing it on three different occasions) that it's just a nice little kids' ballad . . . I think I believe him . . .

Not every song is about dope, there folks, and the longer you're in recovery, the more you realize a lot of the world gets along without it just fine...

Great Thread!

Here is one from Aimee Mann called Phoenix.

Got out of Phoenix, just in time
A box of kleenex, for the ride
The tumbleweeds said, their goodbyes
To javelinas and DUIs

I don't want to abandon you but baby I've had my fill
You love me like a dollar bill
You roll me up and trade me in
And if you had the chance you will
And if you get the chance again

It's hard to know when to cut and run
You balance heartache with your fun
And when the scales tip, you know you're done

I don't want to abandon you but baby I've had my fill
You love me like a dollar bill
You roll me up and trade me in
And if you had the chance you will
And if you get the chance again

Cos I know love doesn't change anything at all
I know love doesn't change a thing

I wanted to believe in you and baby I believe it still
Baby I've just had my fill
You love me like a dollar bill
You roll me up and trade me in
And if you have the chance you will
And if you get the chance again
I know you'll do the best you can

But baby love doesn't chage anything at all
I know love doesn't change a thing
