Vital Absorbing Creative Intrest
Just got through revising some data that I collect on last bloom date and time since previous bloom. Had to reconstruct some from picture documentation. Tedious - but now it's updated and I will be able to easily keep it up to date. It's a real PITA when you decide to record data in more detail.
After finishing up work on the barn yesterday I took a longish ride on my scooter. I'm really loving the Honda Super Cub. Just enough bike for me. Only 240 pounds with a full gas tank, gets 140+ mpg, and it can go faster than I really want to go..I've had it up to just over 60 mph and I really don't see the point. I got it to tool around on 2 lane country blacktop. My sweetspot seems to be right around 45-50 mph. That doesn't strain me or the bike.
Hoping this flower stays in perfect shape till the next orchid club meeting (September 2nd). The meeting will have an American Orchid Society judge. I'll be able to have this one judged. If it stays in shape I think it's almost certain to be awarded.
The orchid looks beautiful to me, Charon. The Honda seems like a fun little bike. I’ve considered getting something like it, but there’s so much traffic here and the drivers aren’t very aware. Maybe not the best place for that. Enjoy!!
Yep - I love tooling around on the bike here. The first roads followed established paths - either animals or carts & horses. THen came the auto and people had to get there NOW. So more direct and high speed roads were built and the older roads were mostly abandoned by drivers. Now those roads are mine. I seldom see a car and I can ride at whatever speed suits me at the time.
I'm not sure the orchid will last till judging. The meeting is a week later than usual because of Labor Day. It will be what it will be. No big deal. I'm looking into the posibility of self fertilizing it and growing up a batch of it's offspring. I'm hoping to get advice on that from a breeder that I buy most of my plants from.

My ride to Stewart's Pond was great. Lots of up and down on really winding smooth 2 lane blacktop with no cars. If we get a really hot/warm day I might make another run up and bring my snorkeling stuff. Mrs & I might go up there to paddle our canoes too. It's a really pretty place.
Thought I'd offer a SMART meeting that happens Mondays at 6 PM. You need to make a one time registration. (https://zoom.us/meeting/register/e64...10d14dfea9e911). You get a link in an email. Click on that just before the meeting starts. Hope to see you there.
Had an unbelievable day Saturday. First my son blew us away with a (restricted) tour of where he works - the "city" he is operations manager for. I cannot even fathom the responsibility and extent of what he does. We only saw about 30% of it. Bursting with pride.
On a much more trivial note - one of my plants received a very high (78 point average) HCC/AOS. Judges said if it had a few more flowers it would have gotten an AM/AOS. They also said it was a very young plant and that's why the lower flower count. Much potential for higher awards in the future.

Going to start on a woodworking project. It's a frame for a picture my wife bought me. Of course I can't just make a simple frame. Has to be complicated, made from wenge, blackwood, and possibly some Bolivian rosewood. Pictures of it after I finish. But I want it subdued so it takes no attention away from the pictue. Here is the picture in the orientation it will be hung. Can you figure out what it really is? Tomorrow trhe answer.
