Weekenders- Forgiving Ourselves this Weekend, 15-18 March 2024
Once, in my twenties, I was travelling alone by train in Germany and was in a compartment with 5 other people all German understandably. I got out my phrase book as the guy across from me said hello. I attempted to speak in German when the guy and rest of carriage burst out laughing. He said to me ‘you will start World War III, with a smile on his face’. I laughed with them but no idea what I said…to this day. still gives me a chuckle when I think of it though.

Her pallor was downstairs with full living accondemations upstairs. I snuck into the embalming room once. Interesting and creepy at the same time. No stiffs laying about, you know. We would visit from Michigan to Missouri. Not far from "the deep south". I got caught jumping over the tombstones...LOL. I had no respectful the dead as a child. The whole graveyard home was funny and loved my visits every time.
Perhaps those visits explain my macabre sense of humor
Congrats stringing sober days together peeps
AV urges can be stopped. Identify having an urge, challenge it, and say out loud "STOP" if need be.

Good Morning Weekenders
Good to see you PJ
DD congratulations on day 258! They’re adding up.
calmself congratulations on day 67
Zencat, I liked going through the graveyard on my way to school. I’d read the old graves and wonder about the people and families they had. Still read gravestones if I happen upon a graveyard.
Saou, I can understand you saying the French phrase and how it gave them a chuckle. Easy to do!
Going to take Alfie pup for a walk before the grocery delivery arrives. Don’t get much for your money nowadays.
Have a good day. Shout out if you’re struggling!
Love to all xxxx

I've just passed a massive milestone - 200 days of being sober. I've never been this far down the road of sobriety in my life. Since I started to drink regularly at 18, the longest I'd gone without drinking alcohol was (does quick calculation) 196 days back in 2021. I'd had some sober spells before then, though nowhere near that amount. I've had sober spells since then and once again nowhere near that amount... until now!
I'm feeling good. I've started going to the gym and am still going for daily walks. As a result I'm feeling the healthiest I've felt for many, many years. Stopping drinking hasn't made all my problems go away. I still have health problems, caused by the lifestyle I have led. I'm on medication for blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol. However, each of those health problems are under control. I still have moments where I think about drinking. I don't know if they will ever go away completely. The main thing is though, those thoughts aren't in my head for too long and are more of a passing, transient, thing. The last time I had any cravings was before Christmas. I do wish I had more money but I think everyone gets those thoughts! I'm not in debt and all my bills are paid on time. There were times in the past where I was juggling my finances so I could buy alcohol and as a result I was getting into a financial mess. The amount of money I was spending on alcohol was obscene. Now I can buy things I like without wondering if I would leave myself short of money to buy alcohol.
It's good timing too - tomorrow is my birthday! It's also a milestone birthday - the big 60! Typing that makes me feel old...

Today has been a day of setbacks and frustration. Hey ho.
Congratulations on 200 days and a new personal best Robbie and HAPPY BIRTHDAY for tomorrow. Typing Newcastle Utd and Robbie kept bringing up photos of Robbie Savage, no one wants to see that so here's a handsome looking pooch wearing the colours
