Easter Weekend Sober and present- Weekenders Thread 15-19 April 2022

Easter Weekend Sober and present-

Weekenders Thread 15-19 April 2022

As it’s Easter, many of us have a long weekend off ahead of us, and it can be a difficult time.

I remember In the past it was an excuse for me to waste all my days off, binge drinking and then recovering from a hangover, and repeat!

I really thought it would be impossible to stop, but with some hope and determination and the help of the experiences and stories of quitting, from people here on SR, I found I could do it.

Having a plan really helped keep me occupied and helped distract from the cravings.

If you’re newly sober this weekend, give yourself a pat on the back, and smile at your achievements!

If you can stick around the Weekenders, you’re welcome, we all have one thing in common....keeping sober.

End of Day 151 - let's remember that everytime AV craves, and we don't feed it, it is slowly starving. And that's what we want.

Good night from Seattle!

Well done on shotgun Willow 👏

Thank you Mags, many an Easter wasted binge drinking but not this time!

Day 103 here. First time here on the weekenders but have a feeling the AV may appear at some point so extra support always good (I will probably be battering it with chocolate though).

In for another Weekender thread!

Thank you Mags!

Welcome to the Weekender thread Britbird80!

Congratulations on shotgun Willow

We all know that booze can lead us to some embarrassing situations with off colour comments or media posts. It's nothing new. This is Lieutenant-Commander Thomas 'Tommy' Woodroffe commentating on the Review of the Fleet way back in 1937. This went out live on the BBC! Poor old Tommy, it is one of the funniest commentaries of all time.

Welcome to Weekenders Britbird. Congratulations on 103 days!

Goodnight calmself! Nice analogy of the av.

Lovely egg Kaily.

Hiya Free

Saou, gosh he has a way with words! I used to repeat myself over and over apparently when drunk.

Thanks Mags, I'm IN for a sober Easter weekend!

At one time Easter used to be the perfect excuse for me to drink all weekend on what was a very long weekend. I would finish work on the Thursday lunchtime and head straight to the pub and then drink all weekend until Monday evening. Then I'd sometimes end up phoning in sick on the Tuesday as I felt so ill.Looking back, those aren't happy times.

Welcome to the Weekenders thread BritBird80. Congratulations on shotgun Willow. Kaily, I love the egg!

"The fleet's lit up" - it definitely sounds like the commentator had drunk one drink too many!

I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Thanks Mags! I can remember being anxious over Easter weekend ~ with the stores being closed on Sunday, I'd worry that I would run out of wine!

In for another Weekender thread! (Thanks Sao!)

Sao, I surely sounded similar to Lieutenant Commander Tommy many times. Also, there was often such a debilitating hangover that it would make me terribly withdrawn and antisocial.

Purps, the fear of running out on Sunday. Had forgotten about that.

LHW, support is always here.

Britbird, solid work on beating the 100 day mark. It keeps getting better.

I like to read the Fish and Game Law Enforcement emails. There are always funny (also tragic) stories of people drinking while boating.

Hi Weekenders,
Thanks Mags, I'm in for a sober weekend! Love all the colourful pics!
Saou, that was an interesting clip! Marbles in the mouth accent, an extra one or two in Tommy's case!
That poor fellow, how embarrassing for him.
