Happy to be Sober? Or eager for the next drink? Weekenders 08 - 11 April 2022
I’m in and thanks for the thread Mags x. Getting a new fancy mattress delivered tomorrow and really looking forward to it!! If I am going to be in bed a bit more often over the next few month I thought I well deserved to do it in style lol.
Treatment has been postponed to next Tuesday as when I arrived this Tuesday they were concerned about my temperature as it was high and over a period of 2 hours it had gone up to 38.4 which is classed as fever so they said they couldn’t start chemo. The Dr came to seem me and they think I had an infection so sent me home with high strength antibiotics to take. What an anti climax!
Anyhow, hope everyone is doing well xx

In for another sober weekend!
Thanks Mags! You raise a concern that I suspect a lot of people feel about what what life will be like sober. You can put that into a less troubling perspective by reminding yourself what life with a drink problem is like. If it is an Oscar Wilde-like social whirl of sophisticated repartee then I suppose you have reason to be concerned but mine was just the painful treadmill of hangovers, worries about what I might of said or posted and the certain knowledge that I was destroying my own health, wealth and employability.
You don't need to raise the bar very high to have a better life than that.
Congratulations on shotgun Free!
Good luck with the jobhunting calmself, I think it's great the way you have turned things around.
Away from the grasp of alcohol we can all move on up.

MantaLady, sounds a good idea to get a new mattress. Sorry to hear you’ve got an infection, Rest well for a few days.
Sao, when I got sober I resigned myself to a life with no life. I got a nice surprise….. There being a life after stopping.
Hi Fishkiller
Hiya Aly. I noticed and looked up your signature saying earlier, which lead me to Alysheba the race horse. Lovely

Congrats to everyone for increasing your sober days! Keep going folks.
End of Day 145 for me. Today I applied for two more companies. Easy to become demoralized and give up, considering the strain of job hunting and managing a full-time job. But I won't...
Good night from Seattle.

Goodnight calmself, you’re doing a great job, job hunting. You’ll find the right one for you, don’t feel demoralised…feel empowered. You’re a force of energy and positiveness. Congratulations on 145.

It's Friday again already. The weeks are flying by.
calmself, hopefully your job hunting will pay off soon and you'll find the right job you are looking for.
MantaLady, hope your infection clears up very soon.

Hi all,
Hi Mags, I was diagnosed with celiac disease last year, first by lab tests, then by endoscopy and biopsy. Is your husband having an endoscopy as well as a colonoscopy? Both ends, haha!
It's a bit of an adjustment going gluten free but quite manageable. There are lots of gluten free options available now, fortunately, and I've adjusted favourite recipes with help from a number of good websites.
Hope he copes with the preparation!
