Great pics and great attitude, AL. I hope that disc gets better, and the job works out. Nice that you can watch your son play.

Sobriety is so much better. We get a much better life.

As walking is out this week im reminiscing about holidays abroad (vacations) from what seems like a lifetime ago. So heres one of my brother and i in Yosemite. While he lived outside San Francisco city for 12 years or more i visited as often as i could and a trip here was a must. Theres beauty at every turn the most spectacular hikes and really theres not enough you could say only i was so lucky to have had the chance to be there.
Unfortunately a few more grey hairs these days but surprisingly im a bit less round around the mid section.
Hope you are all enjoying the day.

Wonderful pic of Yosemite! I was just there at the end of May ‘21 for my first time. We hiked like mad! (Just taped my broken tarsal and kept going). Unforgettable and agree, truly a gift.

Great thread AL48. I'm enjoying seeing your pictures and reading your narrative of the background to them.

Its cold outside so the stove is keeping me warm. Kiln dried timber being used these days as the day of smoke burning coal and peat are coming to an end. On a calm night before there would be a smog that would cover the town unseen from below but on the hills above very noticeable its very slowly being phased out.

I am a wood burner too. Love it. Nothing like watching the flames and feeling that heat to sooth the misery of winter.

I’m a wood burner too, especially surrounded by forest with dead trees that add fuel to forest fires, but ecologists have squelched that, so we are only one of two units in our building that have a wood burning fireplace. Once persons convert to gas, you are done. No going back to wood.

Our new home, to be built above 3000m (9000 feet), technically is exempt, but we are having a gas fireplace, and then are allowed a wood burning stove like that pictured above.

Thanks for the wonderful pic.

Free that's seems such a high altitude to live at. Im settled here at sea level only worry is spring tides and if you get an easterly wind we can get flooding.
Here's my inlaws granite fireplace during my trip to France at Christmas. They found it during renovations of a very old farmhouse (at 1000mtr) when they retired year's ago. I loved getting it ready every morning and sitting watching at movie or reading, of course after my walks with a nice glass of sparkling water.

C’est une très belle photo de cheminée ! Il ressemble au style Rumsford, invente il y a des années, haut est peu profond mais très efficace.

🔥🔥🔥

Hêtre sous le charme.
A beautiful tree house holiday in the forest in France 2 years ago. Over looking the Dordogne valley and river the views were spectacular and the treehouse was just heaven breakfast and dinner delivered to your door. Granted my wife is more of a city girl it was my turn to pick our anniversary night away and this is what we got😁. No wifi no tv just nature and the 2 of us for company it was bliss. Followed by a day at the market in Argentat the next day another beautiful town.

Sorry the only walking at the moment is into the physio 😭. As Arni the terminator said I'll be back. 2 to 3 weeks apparently and short walks at that.

The yellow flower of the wild gorse plant grows everywhere it can. I remember as a young boy the farmers burning fields of it but not nowadays. Was also used as a yellow dye. Just said I'd throw in some shamrock as i was passing it is Ireland after all. Enjoy your day wherever you are.
