Stinking thinking is not good.

PJ, you are so loved, and admired and you inspire so many!

Yep, last first Friday for me.........last day 2 for me.....agreed Bim, so much to live for, and just dusting off my bottom and not giving up.

The shame of not doing something perfectly will not prohibit me from completing the job.

It will be 34 years since I’ve been nicotine free (10/31/87), and if I didn’t keep trying back then, I would not be free from that addiction today.

Keep trying for those struggling.

Wonderful support from those tried and true on being alcohol addiction free.

I’m choosing to be “Free”

I did multiple, memorable Headers. Plenty of Scrapes & Bruises, but nothing broken.

'Drinking was fun. Until it wasn't.'

Me and Gravity have struck an understanding these Days, so I'm better off remaining vertical most of the time. I was up on the RV Trailer Roof yesterday replacing the A/C Unit with the help of a Neighbor, and his Tractor. Didn't fall off, so that qualifies as A Good Day. We're in the midst of 4 Days intermittent Rain, so it was good that I got this new A/C Unit bolted in before it all hit the Fan with Thunder & Lightning late yesterday. Tonight is a BBQ at the House of our BFFs hosting their 'Kids' in from Seattle. All will be had by a good time. Pretty much all Sober Folks.

Thanks for the good one, Bim.

Elton John talks about his own low of snorting several Grams/Day, and doing the ole 'Speedball' Routine of offsetting that buzz with a Bottle of Scotch daily. Rough stuff. Interesting times to look back on. Through our own non-negotiable Rear View Mirrors devoid of obnoxious AV noise. Elton's Personal Anthem on all that...

'I'm Still Standing' ~ Elton John ~ Live

I was thrilled to find the tune on YT, it was hauntingly memorable.
Reading the YT comments, I see that many others felt the same, and it was a beloved series in the childhood of many as it was re-broadcast often.

Great music; thanks, caramel. Somehow I missed this series; looks like something I would have enjoyed.

Aaah, I see; it was a European thing.

When I saw Elton John live a couple of years ago (bucket list item, it was THRILLING) I got serious goosebumps when he did that song, knowing what I know about his history of booze and drug abuse. I have been to many many concerts in my life, and that one does stand out as one of, if not the, Best Ever. He is an amazing performer still, even at his age and now limited vocal range, and he was warm, funny, and just a lovely man. I think when he was in the throes of addiction and had not really come out yet, he was not necessarily someone you'd want to hang out with. But now he seems happy and serene. It was so great to see sobriety in action like that.

I’m in. I had a major slip - I am dusting myself off and getting back up. Was feeling pretty bad about myself the past few days. Trying to forgive myself and keep pushing forward.

Thanks for the inspirational opening post, BiminiBlue. It really helped. We are out of town this weekend so will check back in when we get home.

PJ, you are the absolute epitome of inspiration.

I never caught one of Elton John’s concerts; my loss, he was brilliant. He had some very rough personal years and I believe that he fought a lot of childhood demons. He has had a long stretch of sobriety - more brilliance.

Glad that you are back in the fold, LHW. You, also, free2. Never give up.

Free2B and LHW, I hope you both can stop.

I really didn't have that hard of a time quitting, even though I was an all-day-every-day drinker for about four years and a daily drinker for about three years before that...I knew it was a whole lot better on the sober side after having been sober for many years prior. Once I made that Big Decision it was then just a matter of keeping my personal integrity - the promise I made to myself.

There's nothing good in the bottom of the bottle. We've all looked. I had a bunch of trauma and grief I was self-medicating but it doesn't really fix that, it just quiets it for an hour or so and then the other 20 hours are yuck - either chasing the lizard or trying to recover from over-drinking. Such an insidious cycle.

Best wishes to you Free2beme and LoveHateWine, as bim said in the OP you both got back up again.

PhoenixJ, those people who say good things about you are professionals and know what they are talking about, you are inspirational. Is it back pain or skin graft pain? Either way do keep informing your docs that you still have it, maybe there will be something they can do.

I am going home in about 2 minutes. Thank God! BTW- I just read that a billionaire has been given the go ahead to build a house (well palace) worth £500 million, repeat FIVE HUNDRED MILLION POUNDS! That's about US $ 700 million.

I'm in for this sober weekend, things with my mother have deteriorated rapidly the last few days now and we are simply waiting for the clock to run out.
She's in no pain and am home so it's the way she would have wanted it.
