hi everyone

Friday morning here and we’ll be heading off camping later today after work. Hopefully a short day today, fingers crossed. An early finish on a Friday used to be a signal to start drinking early, but those were the days when I would waste the entire weekend in a blurry haze. No more. I enjoy remembering my weekends! And not feeling sick and hungover and riddled with anxiety and guilt.
Instead I’m going to try and photograph some of the sometimes elusive wildlife around our campsite.

Manta, my family is from the UK, and my Mum adored Highland toffee, and taught me to adore it too
Your post made me nostalgic for visiting my family there when I was little ❤️
And now I really want some of that toffee/marshmallow/rice bubble slice…. Your garden sounds a lovely place to sit with a nice cup of tea and a piece of slice

In!

Here is where I focused on every step of the 8 mile, 3000 vertical ft. hike today, toward Upper Yosemite Falls

Great pics Free2bme. Gorgeous blue jay. Enjoy your trip to the a giant sequoia tree and your golf. I just looked up the tree, they’re amazing.

MantaLady, your mum’s highland toffee recipe sounds moorish. What a delicious treat.

Thanks Mags. Snap crackle and fizzle reminds me of space dust which I use to feed to my horse to make him 'laugh'.

Willow, enjoy your weekend, love your set up. Never seen anything like that here but then I don't really go anywhere - would be surprised if someone pulled up outside my house and started camping.

Nice pics Free.

Bim, how exciting to be going back to the Zoo. I hope the gorillas give you a big wave and welcome when they see you.

Captain

I have prickly heat and insect bites all over my arms and lots of bruises - I bruise easily and have been doing lots of gardening.

Still feeling very paranoid about my neighbours, it scares me as I have learn't to recognise my own limits with my mental health and it is waning. Too much stress and it can decline rapidly, having a personality disorder my thoughts are becoming very mixed up.
I have had to do a lot of emergency walks. Daisy saw me get the leads out for the third time yesterday and hid!

Free, beautiful bird. Is that bird also referred to as a Steller's jay or am I remembering incorrectly?
Eight miles, 3,000 feet vertical? I would want to be let out at the top and picked up at the bottom, LOL.

Very practical looking tent set up Willow has. I used to camp with friends a lot. Half of the time we didn't even bother with a tent. I was probably too inebriated to set one up anyway.

Morning Weekenders. My mom passed away peacefully yesterday afternoon. It wasn’t quite unexpected and in a sense I am relieved that It wasn’t more drawn out. The good news is that my dad, although still weak, seems to be out of immediate danger and will hopefully be transferred to a step down facility by the end of the weekend. Mrs Haddock and I are definitely on the mend, but after two weeks can attest to what an awful disease this truly is. Thanks again for all the thoughts and prayers - it has truly made a difference.

I look forward to making a more positive contribution to the thread this weekend.
