Thank you, Mags.

This weekend I'm really hoping that it's warm enough for a driveway visit with my daughter's family for a family birthday. Saturday is expected to be 5C (41F) and sunny, so it could definitely work.

In!

Thanks Mags, nice accompanying photos, I feel sure I recognise that waterfall but I can't place it.

I have often thought about why alcohol and having fun are so closely linked. I think I came to the conclusion that it is because when we were young (in my case) or if you still are young and most likely don't have a place of our own then much of our socialising revolves around places where alcohol is consumed and it is the socialising that we enjoy but the two become inextricably linked and we find it hard to imagine one without the other. As we age and the lure clubbing, dancing and partying etc fades it becomes a bit easier to seperate having fun from booze.

I had to go to Norfolk today for work reasons and for lunch I had a cheese and onion pasty, a packet of Hula Hoops and a Twirl so I am pretty much living the dream already.

I’m in! Hubby and I are starting a veggie/fruit/herb/flower garden this weekend - I’m super excited. And hubby and I celebrate 8 years of marriage and 11 years together on Saturday. My first wedding anniversary sober!

Thanks for the thought-provoker, Mags.

Of the understandably innumerable times this Topic has arisen here, I some Years ago hit my own lil Epiphany. I couldn't really understand the post-Alcohol POV of having fun and enjoyment until I'd experienced it at some length over time. Now, having transitioned through that proverbial Looking Glass, I *get it*. So, there's The Conundrum: truly understand freedom from Alcohol once you're free of Alcohol defining everything. Eventually, you can't lust for that which you simply don't want anymore. So, I don't. See how easy that was?

The ever-expanding MesaPup manages to find contentment when lodged between the Couch and a Hassock. There's a lesson for me somewhere in such simplicity...

MesaPup is unbearably adorable.

I'm in for the weekend. Looking back, I can't imagine how I thought my drinking was 'fun'. All I did was get numb and foggy and stupid, then feel like crap the next day. So glad my days are no longer spent making myself sick.

Gorgeous photo of Mesa pup ❤️

I post on my phone Bim. Sometimes I write long posts, but sometimes I’m time-poor, and other times I don’t have a lot of insight or positivity to share, so I keep it in my head rather than spill it out through my typing fingers.... But I always enjoy reading other people’s posts

Hey everyone! I'm going to try to remain sober, but my cravings are so, so strong lately.
I can only take it one day at a time.

Anxiousrock one day at a time is the only way that works for me. Sometimes it’s one hour at a time. Or ten minutes at a time some days when the AV is being really persistent. Hang in there

OverthePanic, pleased you’re mum and dad are ok after having Covid. It’ll be a relief when they’re fully vaccinated.

Anna sounds like a lovely weekend ahead.

Saou nice to get out for a ride even if it’s for work.

RenewalofLife congratulations on 8th wedding anniversary , your garden project sounds brilliant!

MesaMan, well said about freedom from alcohol.. I agree, it’s not a problem when we’re free from it. Gorgeous pic of MesaPup, he’s certainly a happy pup.

Hi Samantha, keep busy, occupy your mind, don’t feed the cravings. They do pass. You can do this, as Willow said, one day even one hour at a time.

Welcome, OverthePanic, pleased to hear your parents are getting their second jabs soon.

Welcome to you too, RenewalofLife. Happy upcoming anniversary, sober means you will be able to remember it, always a bonus. Gardening I find is very therapeutic - enjoy.

Samantha, keep fighting, don't give in to that relentless AV, no matter what.

Any jigsaw puzzle progress @vman ? Hope you are feeling a bit better.

Bim, I use a Chromebook, I love it. It is small, fast, built in virus protection, has a keyboard and much cheaper than a laptop. Worth a look if you are considering a new device. My phone remains a phone with the data turned off, otherwise I would be on the internet all the time. When I go out I am internet free. I spend too much time online at home, obsessively.

I have started dreading going to bed. I have tendinopathy and bursitis in my hip and it is so painful, particulary at night. It constantly wakes me. Because of the pandemic it has taken well over a year to get a clear diagnosis. Finally I thought I was going to be given some relief when I was referred for steroid injections, only to get a letter saying they won't do them because of the virus.

I have to take endless over the counter painkillers which potentially cause health issues with long term use.

Apologies for moaning, just needed to share.

Kaily, ouch, sounds very painful. Sorry you’re suffering love. I hope you’re soon able to get steroid injections, I’ve heard good results from them.
