(((Manta))).

Glad you are back. Recommit with all you have. You deserve sobriety and recovery, dear one.

Manta sometimes if I’m feeling poo I write it all down to post and then don’t post it and sometimes I do. It seems to get it out from festering inside my head. I hope you can get rid of this feeling love. xx

Leigh, I’ll check it out with the doc and I understand what you mean about compromising other meds.

Thanks everyone! I think I’m just having a down in the dumps week and it’s a struggle to be positive. However today is a new day and will try my best to think on the bright side. Some fresh crusty bread lathered in butter might cheer me up! x

Sorry you are going through a rough time
Manta. 2020 has seemed like crawling across broken glass. At least we have made it to the second half of the week

This is Gil Scott-Heron, uplifting enough on his own and he's singing about how uplifting Billie Holiday and John Coltrane are. That's a sort of double expresso of uplifting.

That's a good description of 2020, Sao. I'll have to remember that and use it in my weekly Zoom staff meeting today. Every day it seems, there is a new challenge due to the pandemic. It's exhausting.

BUT there is some light at the end of the tunnel, with promising vaccine news, and some progress in treating people who are ill with the virus. We will get through this. Just imagine next Spring (perhaps) when things really improve globally and we are again free to move about with fewer restrictions. In the meantime, we all need to support each other and do our best to stay safe and sane.

Evening Weekenders

I hope you're feeling a bit better tonight Manta.

All the talk about freshly baked crusty bread with butter is actually making my mouth water. It's too late to eat (it's after 11pm) but I really do want some to eat!

It's now over 3 weeks since I last had a drink (it's now day 22 for me). I did have some thoughts about drinking last Sunday but fortunately they passed without me acting on them. Other than that I have been strong in my resolve to never drink again. I'm not taking my sobriety for granted though, I know there will be other days where my AV starts to kick in and I know what I have to do to deal with it.

That's great Robbie. I was hanging by a thread but was beginning to come out of it around that time.

Morning all,

Willow, nice to see you back, sorry your AV took advantage of you being stressed. You will be ready for the pesky monster next time.

You too Manta.

I loved your picture of the Scrub Jay Cityboy.

Hope your cold is getting better Mags.

Hi Bim. . Fancy having a street named after you and a Port too.

Well done on 3 weeks Robbie, nurture it and let it grow. You will be pleased to hear I got my grass cut!

My AV has become very active. I keep finding myself looking at alcohol, checking strength and price. Basically fantasising. I know that if I do pick up I won't be putting down anytime soon, if ever. I'm not craving a couple of glasses of wine, more like a case of Vodka.

My mood is fluctuating all over the place and I just want some peace. This too shall pass (I hope).

Hiya Weekenders

Kaily don’t listen to the pesky AV. Don’t give it head room. Kick it in the butt and send it packing.

Robbie, good news on 22+ days.

Sao, I love that description of 2020. You have a special way with words.

Did I say my neighbours have now had a super duper security system installed. I’m sure that will thwart any burglars attempts if they should think about returning. Hubby is talking of putting one on the front end of our bungalow too. I’ve seen quite a few more new security lights shining around the village the last few weeks. Best to be safe methinks.

New thread coming up in a few hours.

See you later, take care. xx

Well done, Robbie, on 22 days.

KAILY, don’t let that nasty AV win. Our AVs tell us nothing but lies; they know us well and will use any trick to trip us up; they care absolutely NOTHING about us. Really glad that you are here talking about it. We care and we are listening. This will get easier, I promise. Stay close.

Mags, it is good to hear that your neighbors have beefed up their security system and that your husband is considering doing the same. Thanks, in advance, for the new thread and all that you do for us.

and love to all.

Kaily the AV is a liar, there’s nothing good that comes from drinking. Nothing. I wish I had shut mine down before it got the better of me. It’s so hard resisting it once it’s snuck it’s foot in the door again. I’ve been feeling crap and sick and tired all week and the AV is screaming for a drink, but it’s the *insert favourite expletive* AV that made me feel so awful in the first place! Please don’t give into it, it just wants to drown us and it makes is feel like utter crap in the process.

I’ve made it through work on day 4 and I just want to go to bed. But it’s only 3.15pm lol.
So I’m going home to have a shower, make something simple for dinner and relax on the couch with a book.
Then go to bed.
