Well done Renegade, Robbie. I know this is Captain Obvious but it will get easier over time.

CityBoy, I wasn’t all that far from Anna Maria Island when I caught that Pompano.

There is a nice little restaurant right on the beach on Anna Maria Island to which we like to take our out of town guests when they visit; the name escapes me just now.

This is my first weekend sober. I'm now at day 8.

The last days, I'm feeling really tired. I don't know if it's the body channeling its energy towards healing the liver or something. I slept at almost 11 AM saturday and sunday. I needed that rest.

The wife keeps finding suspicious why I stopped having alcohol at meals. She's having her usual small beer bottle. So far, it doesn't bother me. I bought a big bottle of soda, she found it odd, she thinks soda is for kids, alcohol is for grown ups.

Overall, I feel good, more awake, more available...

If the next weekends are going to be like this, it will be great!
Lethargy, fatigue and brain fog were the symptoms that plagued me for the longest, Renegade. Your body needs energy to heal and I think that it purposely slows you down so that it is able to do so. Rest and sleep whenever you can.

This, too, will pass.

Stew and dumplings - YES! Roast beef and dumpling - YES! Sauerbraten and Dumplings - TRIPLE YES!

Not quite as good but a is quick dumplings are a quick substitute.

Man of man, I am suddenly soooooooo hungry.

Robbie, I have watched Newcastle United at play. The Newcastle, Gateshead, Durham area is an area I enjoyed when in the UK. Durham Cathedral is very nice.

CityBoy, I have watched dogs make the transitions you have described; it is a blessing to have them around for a long time but very sad to watch them age.

Okay, I am done. Sorry for all the posts. I kept getting distracted.

Have a nice Monday. I am grateful for each and every one of you.

Hi all,

Another weekend done and dusted. Well done everyone. Stew and dumplings sounds nice - I made beef stew with the remains of a Sunday roast joint a few weeks ago and somehow it turned out as one of the best ever. I wish I'd thought of dumplings to go with it.

Hi Renegade - sounds like you are healing which is good. I too had lethargy and brain fog for quite a while. Hello Kaily, good going on your 22 months - you have always been a couple of months ahead of me which has been helpful in my own recovery. Nice as always to see Alfie on his adventures!

Onwards... Warm wishes to all. Forwards.

Well done Robbie and Renegade it’s great to have you here.
Getting through the weekend sober can be challenging, but it’s so worth it, and this thread and the awesome people here really help us stay sober.
Thanks everyone!
It’s Tuesday morning here and I don’t have much planned today. No work unless I get called in.
Yesterday I went for an hour long walk (my longest in a while) and I plan to do the same today

Thumbs up Hi

Hi all,

Just joined the site today and have already received a lovely welcome. Was introduced to this thread by Forwards so thanks for that mate.

5 days into my second attempt at sobriety after having a few years under my belt last time. Felt really good today for the first time since I stopped. I know I'm doing the right things, just got to keep it up.
Looking forward to getting involved on here.

As you can probably guess, Newcastle United is my favourite team! Durham Cathedral is beautiful. It's especially beautiful on a night time when it is lit up. It can dominate the skyline for miles, especially when approaching Durham on a northbound train. I lived in London for years and would make a return trip to the north east of England perhaps once every two or three months. I knew I was "back home" when the train was approaching Durham and the lights of the Cathedral would appear. The canvas picture below looks like it might have been taken from roughly where Durham railway station is located.

Welcome Sharkez

Robbie that’s a really lovely picture
It makes me feel really nostalgic for the UK. I have really loved the times I have been there, and I have relatives there as that’s where my family came from before moving to Australia. My roots are there so it always pulls on my heart strings ❤️

Thank you everyone for your comments, support and posts. Kaily "Don't forget it is a total restructure of life as we know it, so give it time." - That really struck. You're totally right, it's been years like this. It's a total restructure. Thank you for this statement. Another sober weekend on the books!

Welcome Sharkez! Congratulations on 5 days.

Durham Cathedral looks very impressive, I have relatives who live in the Stanley/Annfield Plain area and remember climbing the hundreds of stone steps to the top.

Welcome Sharkez.

Forwards I hope I always stay a couple of months ahead of you - that will mean we are both on track.

Lovely image Robbie.

Good going Copperfield.

Bit of Tuesday cuteness.

Howdy folks,

Hope everyone got through the weekend. If you did'nt dont make it worse
It's always nice to check into the weekender and always nice to see new weekenders !
As for me pretty busy with work and life in general. It's amazing the amount of stuff you can get through when you get your life back...

I heard this somewhere yesterday and thought that's worth a post :
From the rock and roll hall of fame, the temptations.
