Soar like an Eagle this Weekend - Weekenders 28 - 31 August 2020
CityBoy, I'm so torn. I want her to get out and start growing up, but I also want us all to be safe. I guess if she has to live at home this fall (or the whole year) it's not the worst thing. BUT we will have to figure out ways to get her engaged safely with something other than a screen. This whole summer she hardly went anywhere, and she did get a little depressed.
Morning all!
Just a quick check-in to stop lurking in this week’s thread. Friday marks two months of sobriety for me.
I’m taking leave on Friday and Monday to visit my in-laws in the countryside. We’ll be seeing them for the 1st time in almost a year. It will also be the first time in 5 months that I’ll be leaving my city, which sounds almost incredible.

Good to see you Captain and congratulations on 2 months.
I hope everyone navigated their way through the weekend, especially if it was a three day one as it was here.
Good luck to your daughter Marty. It is no fun being a young adult right now, it must be hard in them.
September already, hey ho. Bye bye strangest summer ever, hello uncertain Autumn.

Morning Weekenders
Congratulations from me too Captain.
Marty, it can be a strain on our mental state, the last few months. Does your daughter like doing anything in the garden? Maybe a project for Halloween or something.
Sunny morning and I’m just going to cut back the bush (I think it’s a Bush, the birds planted it, not me )that seems to have a liking for the pavement at the front.
See you later. xx

Marty I hope your daughter finds some kind of balance between being online and getting away from the computer. I think these times are trying for everyone, but the kids are under a lot of pressure. There’s so much uncertainty about the future.
I’m off to bed soon, a long day working late but I got through the day, and it’s made my day count up to 70 days, or 10 weeks
I might have already said that, I’ve lost track of which threads I’ve been posting in. It’s been a stressful few days and I’m experiencing a bit of overload/ brain fog I think. But I’m sober and planning to stay that way. Goodnight everyone

these days are indeed hard on the kids. I've been working overtime, which in someways is great, but is tough on my body and at times tough on what mind I have left! Gotta keep on keeping on. Good to be able to come here.

I've never heard that expression "hump day" so had to look it up. According to urbandictionary.com:
The middle of a work week; Wednesday used in the context of climbing a preverbial hill to get through a tough week. After hump day the weekend gets closer.
It's still Tuesday here with another hour and 40 minutes left of it. My worst day is Monday, there's 5 long days to the weekend and for many years it was back to work day. I've never thought of Wednesday as being too bad.

Morning Weekenders
Robbie, I’d never heard of hump day until a few years ago. And yeah I agree Willow, middle of the week, nearly Friday. I loved Friday’s when I was working.
Congratulations on 7 weeks Willow.
Our scarecrow ‘Gramps’
We’ll get a bit more adventurous next year. Mr. Mags wanted to put one in the tree and one on the roof!

When I was drinking I would have likely suggested to put a beer bottle in gramp's hand. Maybe just a nice coffee mug.
I work the weekend half of the time it seems, but still look forward to the it.
Willow, 70 days/10 weeks.
I know that I tell the same stories over and over. Don't even care anymore. Just hope that they get a little better each time.
Edit: Attached that mug picture on my phone, hope it's not too big.

, all.
Love Mr. Gramps, Mags. It would be nice to spend the afternoon with him. Tea, coffee, dogs - maybe a bit of sunshine. Convo not necessary!
Love the mug, CityBoy.
Have a great day, all.
