Done today
- cleaned kitchen
- ran and unloaded dishwasher
- cleaned fireplace
- cleared off desk
- cleaned bathroom
- folded laundry
-grocery shopped
-picked up mail
-left note for renters
-brought neighbor's mail over to their house
- contacted 3 people
-skied 6 miles with a freind
- did a bit of duolingo

Days I have to get out of the house always stress me a bit but also seem to be good as it gets me off the couch and doing stuff.

May you all hit tomorrow with the courage to do what needs to be done specially if what you need to do is absolutely nothing!

Me again trying to be an adult in all its non-glorious detail

Done

met with a student
10 min of exercise
2 duolingo lessons
got a haircut (an annual event for me)
took car through a car wash
talked to my sister and dad
bought sunglasses and insoles
looked for new statement at bank - no luck

I'm running out of things to do right now. I can always exercise more, read and do more duolingo . . . hmmm . . . .I suppose I can be grateful for non-pressing activities in my life.

Peace to all.

Hey ho from the first week of February. We are supposed to get snow but just a skiff so far. I hope it is just late.

I'm back in my home after 10 days away. Good and bad like most things.

So far along the lines of "chop wood, carry water"

flossed and treated excema
wrote message to Water and San about changing bank for autopay
ordered two skeins of yarn
25 min of yoga
ordered refill of meds
talked to neighbor (we keep track of the old and widowed in our neighborhood)
texted neighbor about HOA bill - I haven't seen it
half a duolingo lesson

Now for more yoga, duolingo and fold some laundry.

And yet more adulting.

met with a student on Zoom
went to church and helped perk up flowers to get through Ash Wednesday
50 minutes of yoga and exercise -a video by Elena Malova and then some on my own
checked bank account for transfer
marinated some meat (left by renters)
cleaned kitchen and loaded dishwasher

Well off to look for a tax document, do a bit more exercise and look for a package for my sisters mittens

This dang adulting just never ends and rolls in every day with more stuff to do.

I don't check in here as often as I should. Does this mean I don't do anything?

Is thinking, doing?

Emptied my bookcase, and will cull further. Oiled the wood.

Text my sister and asked her if she could only keep one book, what would it be? Fiction.

Waiting to hear back. Said she's going to have to think about it.

I found 3 old albums contains pictures of birds. Cards found in packets of tea. One dedicated entirely to Australian birds. They eat the spiders. Lol

Not a full collection. Close.

I had about 500 packets of Kinkara tea in my cupboard. Just for the cards.

Many a person left my house carrying a pack of kinkara tea.

Hi Steely, always good to see someone else posting here. Sounds like you are doing something. Just noting down what I have done makes me feel better about myself which is why I do it.

I do make "To Do Lists" also but that has me sitting around thinking about what I should do which tends to make me feel overwhelmed. I try to keep my "To Do list"" to three tasks or less so I donn't get overwhelmed.

Okay off to fill in a label for a medical sample, check my list of tax documents and floss.

Steely, it was pretty amazing to help those students. One read Remains of the Day and the other The Kite Runner. In their country education is mostly memorization so being asked to argue a thesis statement and support it with sections from the book is pretty different for them. I just can't even imagine doing what they are doing. I feel very inadequate tutoring them but I do what I can.

Today is taking a bit more crowbarring of my motivation to get me doing stuff.

So far:
checked investment account for tax doc - didn't find it - ugh
filled copy of car registration
cleaned kitchen
readied sample to send yet again
made a steak salad and sourdough pancakes
talked to neighbor
flossed and treated eczema
did a bit of duolingo - I'm getting increasingly bored with it
20 min of yoga
sorted through some old Christmas Cards sent to Dad - sigh thankless job

I always feel badly about throwing out old Christmas cards that were prepared and sent with such love and care. Ah well.

Now for more Yoga, Christmas Card sorting and check list of tax docs.

You sound like a very good tutor to me, bekind.

The tutor who 'gets it'.

Would be awful to have to memorise a book with no space to be critical. Stagnant.

You've got them thinking bekind. That's great tutoring.

Edit: I'm throwing out old Christmas cards, too.

And, after I die someone will throw them away, too.

"Stuff".

Found an old copy of "Wind in the Willows" in the bookcase.

"The Mole had been working very hard all the morning, spring cleaning his little home. First with brooms, then with dusters; then on ladders and steps and chairs, with a brush and a pail of whitewash ... "

I'm going to read it again.

Ah Wind in the Willows. That was an important book in my family. My parents were river runners and they loved the bits about boats. My brother spoke of my parents as Mole and Rat at my mom's funeral. There are bits of the text that I repeat to myself every now and then.

I received a phone call last night that our local flower shop needs help for Valentine's day. I'm not sure how this works but I have been trying to get involved with my church and this has risen out of that connection. It will be good to have something like this to do today.

Such a beautiful story Bekind. Your family, and Wind in the Willows.

Your brother speaking in the voice of Mole, mind boggling.

Beautiful.

It's a long time since it's been read to me. I'm looking forward to going back.

i can read now.

Big storm moving through with snow which is kind of nice. Five to ten inches expected.

So far done:

cleaned up kitchen
found accountants folder in ***** and put my tax docs in it
moved money from account to checking account
moved other money from checking to high yield savings
did 15 min of yoga
ran laundry
emailed siblings about charitable contributions

Now to look through tax docs, do 10 more minutes of yoga and put laundry in dryer.

Hope y'all are having a good one.

I'm dragging today so reviving this thread for my own benefit. Noting what I have done is a bit of positive reinforcement on down days

The Done List Today
- made up guest bed with clean sheets
- fixed appearance of email account
- responded to friend's email about practicing Spanish
-moved trays of seedlings around to catch the sun
-shoveled decks (put snow in dry gardens)
- paid cell phone bill
- forwarded Dad's bill to siblings
- did 10 minutes of yoga
-folded laundry
- changed billing cc for my Dad's cell phone
- planted marigolds and beans in seed pots
-took mail and book over to neighbors
-texted cousin about her aunt's funeral
-found toothpaste
- finished audiobook Ghost Map and checked out one of Spanish Short Stories

Some days it is harder to get off couch than other days

Off for more yoga and a walk.

Sigh. I need to get more out of the house activities in my life.

I was thinking same about me bekind.

Housework is boring. Needs to be done tho.

I found 300+ cassette tapes in a council clean up. Schmick condition. Many genres. Great find. Great music.

Someone’s thrown out an entire collection. Organised them into a bookcase and will listen one by one as soon as I can afford a good cassette player. lol

Great thread Bekind!

Mind if I join in with you all? I could certainly use some “adulting” support. . .

Got 2 loads laundry washed, dried, put away.
Made cornbread and Cajun blackened chicken breast for dinner.
Read 2 chapters for the two Hospitality / Tourism classes I”m taking online.
Went to local meat market and bought beautiful fresh American Wagu chuck roast to celebrate my 3 year / 3 month sobriety date coming up.
Salted and peppered said roast to cure in fridge overnight in preparation for searing / braising tomorrow.
I got my spouse’s SSecurity proof of Medicare to my Retirement organization copied and mailed.
Hill hiked for 1.5 hours in my effort to get fit and cure my insulin resistance.
Read and listened to several chapters of research on insulin resistance causes and management, shared some of this with spouse to encourage him.
Updating planner right now to reflect what I’ve done and prioritize for the rest of the week.
*This is a particularly busy day as I am planning to go to the farm and mow Saturday. Usually not so many things. . .
