Weekender Thread 29 March - 01 April 2019
I am in for the weekend.
Had a bit of beast wrasslin yesterday. Have a week away from work and drug tests and my beast was excited to Ingest some thc. Had been planning on it for some time.
Thought it out. Played the tape. Decided not to do it. Usually don’t enjoy it anyways with anxiety and then when I relax I want more. Sounds more like addiction than enjoyable recreation. .
Plus as Bim says, need continuous sobriety to see results. Been stringing days together and feeling good so how about NOT messing up my game for once.
The beast had a whole summer planned out of getting high and enjoying life like I really deserve. In reality it would be me hiding in the basement all paranoid of the watchful eyes of humans.

That's what started this whole adventure. I found an electric Kazoo at my local music shop and I told my uke group about it. Then one fellow told me about a guy in the 'States that makes wooden ones. When I looked at them my first though was "Wow I want one", then after awhile it changed to "Hey! I can make one".
All my life, I've envied those that are into wood working. Now I'm doing it! Just one more gift of sobriety.
I love the bagpipe sounds he made, now it's got me thinking....

Hey everyone;
I've been having a nice sober weekend playing with puppies and enjoying some Spring warmth.
A bit chilly today after some rain, but the trees are beginning to bloom and I'm so glad winter and woodstove-stoking are over for the year.
Have a lovely Sunday / Monday depending on your time zone.

Good to see you BigShoe! You too NicLin, congratulations on 3 days.
I seem to have lost a longish post from this morning. Hey ho.
biminiblue mentioned she was on her 265th sober weekend. I must be on 221 or 222. When I quit, and all the times before that when I quit but relapsed, any amount of time without drinking in excess of a month or so seemed unimaginably long but then when I finally hit upon what worked it didn't seem so bad. Just getting yourself right mentally is three quarters of the way to winning.

A good end to a rubbish weekend. My minor dentistry work on Thursday afternoon resulted in absolute agony from Friday afternoon onwards (I think it's just beginning to settle tonight).
I just popped out for some over the counter pain relief and my wife asked me to buy her a small bottle of wine. That's ok normally - but 'old me' would have necked glasses of whisky to take away physical pain - so the row of bottles really, really tempted me tonight.
I walked past three or four times. Each time, fighting my urges with my CBT training.
My CBT side won and I walked out of the store feeling elated. Super-proud. Happy weekend to you all. Now if this nagging tooth pain could go away now, that would be an excellent start to a new week!

End of another Sunday. Seems lately that Sundays are always good productive days for me. Daughter Dragon accompanied me to the strum today, an unexpected and plesant suprise. Good night fellow sober adventurers!
Welcome to Weekenders clickonrick! I hope the tooth calms down today.
That's great about your daughter going to the strum with you Dragon.
I'll be off to join the happy throng of commuters in a few minutes. That is no fun on a Monday morning but it used to be so much worse with a hangover.

Saou, do you take the underground for work? When I visit London I take the underground, it’s so quick, then again I have no idea where I am most of the time!
Nice one! ClickonRick.
