Good to see you PhoenixJ!

I'm hiding in the bathroom. The boss is looking for "volunteers" to clean out a garage/storage area.

Just about to take Oliver my cat to the foster carer who is kindly looking after him while I am in rehab. Feel so bad having to do this, his poor little face, he has no idea what is going on. He's 21 years old so he doesn't do well with change but here goes. It's going to be hard to hand him over....deep breath! x

Phoenix - Thank you for advice. I will surely chase this up.

Vman - Yes! Just one week to go!!! So far this trip is teaching me that nothing brings genuine joy when you are deprived of freedom to be yourself.

Sao - Good luck with hiding!

I am waiting for my employer to announce that it's lunch time. Jeeeeze. My athlete's nutrition regimen is crying bloody murder.

Sorry, I am just permanently irritated.
We had similar things happen on our utlily bill. Usually is just a mis-reading of the meter and a phone call gets it sorted out.

Do get to keep the discarded item(s) of your choice? I'm bad for bringing home junk. I see the potential in things but most stuff never gets put to use and I find myself driving it down the the recycling center some months later.

Sao- I used to hide bathroom to avoid washing the dishes after the Sunday roast...this was alternated with the toilet...
You have to put thought into it though. Did you PLAN you defection to the bathroom? Details! I need details!

Some Utility companies try it on in the UK with "estimated" bills that bear no relation to the usage pattern - always substantially higher, never lower. I woukd contact them and give them a meter reading.

Sorry about the Oliver situation Manta. 21 is a good age!

LOL! I put no planning into it Phoenix and it was an abject failure as I was grassed up by a co-worker. The boss has given me the worst job ever, doing an inventory. I am just going to be British about it and do a really half assed job. I will take pics and write down what I see, it's too dusty and dirty to be moving stuff around.

It's Friday.

Lots of people look forward to Friday. Me, I don't think of it as much different from Tuesday or Saturday. Most jobs I've had were not regular hours nor regular M-F things, so the days of the week don't mean much. I also got sober when I wasn't working so every day was a drinking day - right here in front of the computer. In the end, there weren't even that many days when I left the house.

It's progressive and it is bondage. Now I get out every day and enjoy some kind of activity. Yesterday it was the fishing pier and the ferry landing. I talked to people, had a nice lunch and enjoyed watching an Osprey and its young catch their lunch. Sea Stars, Sea Cucumbers, dogs of all types - AND I found out there is a festival this weekend, so I'll go back.

I had a couple of nice ladies stop and talk with me...after a few minutes they wanted to talk about Jehovahs Witness. They were really nice. I almost engaged, but it seemed too big a task.

I hope everyone reading can stay sober for this weekend. Nothing good that way lies, and trust me - it is SO much better on the sober side.

*sips coffee*

^^^Ditto!!!^^^

And Happy Birthday Nova!

Doing okay for now, but I normally get "AV ambushed" later in the day while at work, and next thing I know my mind is made up. Gotta come up with a barrier to keep that from happening.

Good to see you all!

^^ Barrier.

It can be as simple as an imaginary two-inch thick piece of glass between your hand and a serving of alcohol. "Oops, barrier, won't do that." Swim away. Keep swimming.

I saw this on Instagram & it said to "Tag anyone who needs to read this" ~ so I'm tagging myself! Thought it would be a good quote for the day:

This weekend will mark my first month sober - dunno how I feel about it all! It’s been an incredibly fast slow month lol - time has gone past quickly but the days themselves can seem interminable.

This weekend I will be going to my first ever AA meeting - I have ambivalent feelings about it to say the least.

I worked so hard this week that I could potentially take this weekend off but tbh too scared of being depressed and just forcing myself to read fiction I used to enjoy or forcing myself to watch crap tv.

I need to get out of the house and out of my head (sober!) - sometimes all I can do is hope that by doing the right things it will get better - this weekend I will try to look for any positive opportunities that may present themselves

Congrats on that Month, Irish.

AA meetings were great for getting out of my head. Let us know how it goes.
