Off work today with a cold. Ist one for some years. I'm surprised that I don't get them more often living in London and using the Tube (underground railway) every day.

Maybe sometime in the future I can come up with a weekend opener, but it's like deer in headlights at the moment....

(Thanks for thinking of me, though)

I started this book called Art & Soul, which is supposed to inspire creativity with a weekly project in each chapter. This week is origami....that crap is hard! Maybe I need to develop the patience....anyway, better get ready for work....see y'all a little later!

Many a year ago, I had an origami book that taught how to fold a flying Dragon. The really cool part was when you flew it, it's wings actually flapped! We use to fly them off an 8th floor appartment balcony. I had made several attempts to find the instructions and or book again, but searches have eluded me. Now that you've sparked that memory I'll try searching again later today.

I'm loving the fact that the new norm is to be sober on a Friday evening. This is the eleventh one. Saturday morning is the best bit, though.
Have a great weekend, all.

Take care Sao. (and all you girls and guys )

There seems to be a nasty flu strain doing the rounds....
I read a book one time by Pete DAVIES about the flu called catching cold. I thought it was fantastic... if that kind of stuff interests anyone (H's and N's )

Feel better soon, Sao.
Seems like everyone where I work is sick. One of the Profs said 8 kids from her class of 22 were out sick yesterday. It's that time of the year.

I will be very aggrieved if it is the flu as I had the flu jab a few weeks ago. I heard somewhere (on the radio I think) that some live strain was extracted from a seaman who died of influenzs in Svalbard north of Norway.

In a couple of hours I will be approaching the time I would normally be going home with the weekend to look forward to. What kind of unholy forces are making me sick IN MY OWN TIME. If that's not a crime against humanity then i'm a dutchman.

Many thanks for all your kind words. The former Mrs Saoutchik would attest I am the world's worst invalide.

Yesterday I had to go to the grocery store and there are ten of them within a ten minute drive from me. I chose one and decided to take back roads to get there because who likes traffic anyway?

I'm at a Stop sign in a residential area and turning right, so I kind of stopped and immediately started up again. Just as I did some young guy coming from the right and intending to turn left onto the street I was leaving had some issue and started to slide. Wheels locked up (his) and he spun, tires squealing. I was already moving so just kind of had to watch - and it all happened so fast - as these things do.

His car made a 240 and ended up exactly where my car had been less than a second earlier. It would have been disastrous for me, his front end would have crashed right into my driver's door. It was really surreal and serendipitous. He was fine, he continued around to 360 and then turned onto the street. *whew*

I'm pretty grateful today. I can't afford a car that's anywhere near as nice as mine is - and it isn't worth much insurance-wise. Never mind the injuries we could have suffered. I didn't have much of a reaction at the time - but it was so. close.

...and...breathe....

I am not even sick, but even I feel much better from the hugging kitty and bouncing otters. I didn't even know I needed a pick-me-up, thanks!

As someone else said just a few back...so peaceful and good having plans for Friday evening sober. Just feel so much more solid. Gone is the almost constant running thought about when and how to engineer the next drinking session. I would get physically and emotionally excited about it, driven.

Bimini I'm so glad you are well.

I'm so annoying that people are trying to hyjack my schedule meeting for today😡

My husband want to go to dinner so annoying I'm going to have to do doubles tomorrow.

Ahh but there's no drinking happening so I can get up early tomorrow and get it out of the way early.

Happy Friday!
