Petals, I had a drinking dream last night as well. Day 4 for me today. woke up with intense anxiety because the dream was so real. Also had severe insomnia, probably a withdrawl symptom. Managed to get a few hours though. I say a few hours of sober sleep is infinitely more restful than 10 hours of drunk sleep any day.

yay, well done sober weekenders. I just got back from my walk in the rain. I live on a trail and the leaves are so pretty but starting to be more on the ground than on the trees.

Dinner! Spaghetti and wedge salad w/homemade bleu cheese dressing and real bacon and crispy onion ring thingys that I suspect are not even onions. I mean, they're those things that come in a can that you use on green bean casseroles. Can't really be actual onion, can they?

So hungry.

Wow...that sounds so nice...Have i mentioned lately how jealous i am of you, Bim??? ...live on a trail and near the ocean... Some pretty fine life decisions you have made, it seems. Hard won, I am sure.

Ha! I too have wondered what really makes up those little crispy “onion” thingies. Unlike most crispy tasty things, I’ve never been tempted to try one right out of the can...hmmmm...

I think they're just fried batter with lots of onion seasoning. They're good out of the can.

Someone told me..

Bix, I live in a 35 YO 1-bed condo that is showing its age. The trail is nice - don't get me wrong - but I'm not living the high life in Malibu with sweeping views of the Pacific, by any means.

Small-town Washington. The salt water park I go to is on Puget Sound, which is kind of the ocean and kind of not really.

OMG, my adult son just announced that he's going out to shovel the driveway. Must be the novelty of the fresh snow. I wonder if he'll ever do that again this winter! Maybe he's going to ask for something later.

When I first started my job in the summer of last year I really really enjoyed it. I worked until late in the evening doing overtime for others. I used to feel a really empathy with the patients who I would speak with regularly on the phone. Even when I used to have to cancel patients because there was no bed for them, I used to feel so guilty, especially when I had to phone the same elderly gentleman about 5 times to say he hadnít got a bed. I would be mortified. And he would say ďI know itís not your fault girleen. Just rebook me for the next available slotĒ.
And itís always the patients who are really sick who are the most understanding. Itís the ones who are coming in for some incredibly minor op who take the head off you.
I used to light candles every night in the hopes that they would get a bed. Then I stopped doing that as I was told by a colleague that ďI know you mean well but itís bad for you as it means you are taking work home with you... in your headĒ.
I think I was more productive at work when I did light candles, so I started doing that again this week and one night fell asleep with the candle still burning. Iíll have to get a night light or something for them instead as being burnt is not really the way I want to go, even though I know we are all going to die.
Even last Friday I had two patients booked. Of course they rang me down saying ďTetra, you have 2 patients booked but we have only 1 bed. Who should we give it to? Itís your callĒ. I hate being put on the spot like that! Itís not my call! I went with the one I figured my consultant would like me to. In the end another bed opened up after the ward round and the second patient got admitted at 10:50 AM yesterday even though they were supposed to be in the bed at 8 AM as surgery starts at 9 AM. So I guess when that man told me last week ďthat hospital is an absolute jokeĒ, he was not entirely incorrect.

Hmmm I have nothing much to report except that my sister seems to have gone back to her awful ex husband and my mother is very worried about her. My mother was bad today. I haven't seen her so bad in quite a while in fact. I did make it clear to my parents that I am not keen on sitting down to eat Christmas dinner with him. (I know it is only November.) My father did say that he is not keen on it either but we have to let her know we are here for her if things go bad for her again. So he suggested they could come for dinner and then go home as he doesn't want him in the house overnight. I know she is a grown up and she has to live her life but she does have problems as well and it is hard not to worry.

So I do have a lot on my mind. Everyone has problems. We never know what exactly is going on in people's lives and I do think we could all do with being nicer to each other.

Anyway I hope you are all keeping well.

Tetra-hugs. Thanks for keeping us up...we love you and want to hear.

Just got home from being with my Mom today. SO and I had a misunderstanding on the phone while trying to talk about things. We both want best for everyone, and to work things out together...but I am ridiculously defensive and feel put on the spot for answers...really opinions...that I don't have. I can’t explain my opinions, but I have them.

I shared this on my own thread but thought I would share it here as well

Well as I close in on the end of day 4 I surpassed my biggest hurdle yet. I am at the gym during my high weekend trigger time. Wife says her cousin is coming over. Who I have drank with millions of times. I'm thunk well I hope he comes and goes (not to be mean but I'm trying to think of not drinking). She texts me that he is staying the night and to get beer! ( now I have not been 100% transparen't with her don't judge). Any other time I would have been like yes! I replied that I have been tired lately and don't want to drink and that I'm trying to be healthier. I feel stronger and stronger with each hurdle. And I feel more powerful than ever! Screw off AV!

late check-in for me today/tonight - it's nearly 2am here. I'm still having terrible trouble sleeping, even after four months sober. didn't get off to sleep til it was nearly getting light & then slept til after lunchtime, so I'm wide awake now

good to see people are getting through the weekend without drinking - go us!
