Canada Day/Independence Day - It's a North American Weekender 30/6-4/7 (ok ok 7/4)
I really suggest you try and drink some water and get some rest SAH. And please come back in the morning when you can think a little more clearly. We can help but not when you cannot listen.

SAH, long time lurker here, struggling as you are. I joined tonight because I feel your pain in my own experience, I've wondered how you've been. Please, tomorrow post and try again. I'm on the site every day trying to make it sober. I'm trying hard and I hope you will continue trying too. Please, don't give up.
Thank you for that post and welcome Lisa
I hope you will post again tomorrow SAH - try and force yourself to get on here before you have the thought to drink again.
The road to wellness starts with willingness, yeah?

Hope you are ok SAH . Some good advice from the sr guys. Sometimes it is hard to listen to their advice but it's always said with love and huge knowledge.
It's morning here and I really should have got up half an hour ago..... was hoping a lie in would help ease my terrible headache..... but nope I may have to give in and take something for it 🙄 bye for now.
Hugs from me xx

SAH, I can totally relate. I too stayed away when I was actively using. I was also ashamed and felt I was no good. It's hard coming back from a relapse. It's hard to stop drinking again. But it can be done. I'm giving it my best shot, committing again, making a recovery plan, reading a lot here, journaling, making gratitude lists. I deserve a better life; my son deserves a better mother. You too, SAH, deserve a better life. The only way to get your soul back is to quit alcohol. You can do it. Get rid of the alcohol you have in the house; get some sleep; get out of the house when you're feeling better; go for a walk; get some air and start from there. And come back and post here. Please do tell us how you are doing.
Thinking of you, SAH.....I once called one of those hotlines from a commercial (I was drunk and honestly didn't think anyone would answer) but someone did....and it was really nice to have somebody to talk to.
Soberandhealthy I am really hoping you have gone to bed. There has been some wonderful advice here. ER is still a good idea because once admitted you might be able to get a programme of help in place. It is hard trying to beat this on our own, having some form of help can reinforce our own good intentions.
Welcome to Weekenders LisainBC and thank you for your post.
Good to see you Trees.

Better late than never! lol Thanks!
Welcome Lisa!
Soberandhealthy- I am rooting for you. Please check in later when you can. Never give up because sobriety is going to stick soon. I relapsed a lot before it clicked. It finally clicked for me after a night like you had. I am pretty sure I was close to death the last time I drinked. It really woke me up and scared me.

Morning all, just checking in. Lately, I've only been checking up with SR in the mornings and I'm starting to feel the AV creeping into my thoughts later in the evening. So time to put a stop to that and start checking in more often. See you later in the day!
We all have felt the same shame Soberandhalthy. It sucks! The only way to find the sober and healthy life is to make a final decision that you will not drink today....rinse and repeat. SR has been my lifeline since I began my journey. I come here several times a day to read, post and stay accountable. Eventually you will have time behind you and that's when recovery really begins to kick in.
Don't give up, use all the strength you have to start making the right decisions. You will be so thankful that you did. Promise!

When my neighbour and I spoke over three weeks ago, he agreed to take down his fence and I would replace it. I bought all the wood and supplies right away and put them in the back yard. I also put up temporary fencing to keep the dog safe. He has not touched his fence and I cant get on with the job. He is avoiding me, I'm sure. Today I caught him peeking out his garage window at me. I'm praying for a good wind storm to come and knock it down. It would take much.
A guy on the Tube (underground train) who was standing next to me stank of tobacco and BO, man it was gross! I do not believe he was a homeless person who might have an excuse. Good job mine is a short journey.
Even those of our American Weekenders who have to work today may well be coming to the end of the working day by now. I hope you have something planned that can keep you occupied. Waking up sober on a Public Holiday is a good feeling.
Being Irish, North America has always been a fascinating place, so many of my Irish ancestors travelled the long journey across the Atlantic to settle and create a life for themselves, many left these shores in the hope of a better future, there's Irish blood all over the continent and I am proud to remember those that travelled and made a home.
10 years ago I went on a road trip, I arrived on the East coast and travelled West, and there are many places I fell in love with, my favourite city was found in Boston, soo much history, my favourite scenery was in Arizona, my favourite people found in California, the best of friends I have ever known was found in Portland, Oregon.
Many people left these shores of Ireland many years ago, they didn't know what to expect, and I urge all of those out there who are unsure about Sobriety to take that same leap of faith, you can do this, there is a horizon out there that can offer you soo much, just give it a chance.
Happy Canada Day and 4th of July Weekenders!!
