This information was a life saver for me. Best wishes!

I'm on another day 1 today as well. I know what you mean by getting past day 3, it's like that for me too, which is why I end up bingeing every few days. I'm done with repeating this same cycle because it's not getting me anywhere, just keep on spinning my wheels never taking off. I offer you encouragement and best wishes, especially in these first few days. You are not alone. Stay strong!
Thanks Bronzie! That 3rd day and on is tough. I made it to 5 days last week, but it still was tough. I expect at some point is gets easier. I keep hoping to make it long enough for the lying voice in my head to die off. But I certainly hate day 1.

I also had issues getting past day 3. The thing is, this problem only gets worse and becomes monumental. The one thing I can count on with sobriety is being level. Emotions are in check. Mental faculties are firing correctly and my body is thankful. You can do this and be better off for it.

Hi SimplyFree, so many have said this...but it takes a lot of faith to push back against what seems like waves crashing into the shore early on. Just hold your ground, stand firm and you'll make it to day 5 (you already know you can get there) and then on to six before you know it!
You people are amazing. I knew today would be a difficult day, and it isn't over yet, but being able to see your understanding and encouragement, helps immensely. I have all the reasons I need to go medicate, but I won't.
Thanks!!!
Thanks!!!
I'm not a victim or a weak personality, but today is being brutal. Just a thing. I will keep coming back and rereading, otherwise tomorrow is another day one and I have to change my start date. It's all in my mind and I know it!
Great job SimplyFree. Stay close to SR and keep posting and learning.
Maybe try changing up your normal routine if a certain time of day triggers you?
LOTS of water to flush out the toxins, simple healthy food, many naps, many long walks and calming herbal teas got me through the early days.

Day 3. I did this last week, I'm hoping this week is better. The good news, as it is, I have had only one night of consumption in the last 8 days. That is because of the people here. Still it's not the goal, so here goes day 3 headed for a new reality.
Hi! You wrote...
Your first quote is a perfect example of how this is very much only in our minds and how our minds need to change! It's hard to believe but not everyone thinks this way and definitely not to the degree of drinking too much.
We CAN look at everything differently...e.g. instead of "I have all reasons to medicate" change our responses and coping mechanisms to "I have all the more reason to exercise"....or <insert any good thing here>...
I believe the same goes for being happy and wanting to celebrate...we need to find new/better ways to respond.
