Make it through to Monday Weekender Sept 9th Part 1
We had some great first timers make it till Monday sober recently. That's AWESOME. By first timers I mean folks that have not had a sober weekend in years. I was one of those folks and I remember the first weekend I stayed sober and hope much lift it gave me. I was so happy.
That first weekend taught me that it is possible. Not only that, rather than seeing everyone else here stay sober I was the one celebrating a sober Monday.
Even if it is not your first time in a while. Maybe you are close to day 100 like some folks here I know of. Or even when years have passed since you took your last drink. The objective everyday remains the same universally for each of us who cannot control our drinking.
Make it through this weekend sober. Arrive on Monday with a clear or clearer mind. Hope in your heart that this weekend will start you down a long sober path.
Let's rally around each newcomer this weekend. Let's rally around each person in need of anything to help them face a life soberly.
Welcome to your sober weekend!!!

Beautiful opening Ken, I'm proud to be on the bus.
Whenever Ive strayed back to drinking I lose my sense of centre and sanity.
So, I'm here. I'm with you and everyone that will jump on the bus.
If you are new to the weekender and reading this, please jump on, say you are in and let's go!
Awesome.

I do miss getting off work on Friday and partying and drinking. I work all week and then when I get off work on the weekends that is when my real work comes in. It is hard to stay sober. My liver and brain are not doing well though so I can't drink anymore. Congrats if you made it through the weekend.
Hey McCribb, I used to feel the same. I'm pretty scared of the Friday night drinking now though. God knows where I'd end up tbh.
Id turn into a crazy warrior person and when everyone else is ready for bed I'd want to leave the house and find someone anyone to have fun with. Awful awful awful.
Anyway, glad we are on the bus together and I'm sorry you aren't feeling well but best not to be drinking .

Once again, thanks Ken!
Congrats on the gunnery, Trees!
I never gave much thought to the concept
of the "weekender" thread, mainly because
every day of the week was "the weekend", when I drank.
This time, however, your post stirred up bitter, regretful
memories of those abominable Monday mornings.
Where the heck did the weekend go?
Getting badly hammered Friday and Saturday, then
lying to myself, by saying "I have Sunday to recuperate".
Never worked. Never will.
Inevitably, Sunday would turn out just as bad,
then BAM---- welcome to Monday morning.

Holy!
It's another weekend already!!!
Time blasts with the speed of light.
Trees - Congrats on shotgun. I am also turning into a crazy warrior on Friday nights - I go boxing)
One of my SR buddies once challenged me to write a poem on boxing, your Friday-warrior theme reminded me of this.
How do I spend my Friday night?
I put on gloves and step in ring.
I'm no more afraid to fight.
And bear jabs that life will bring.
It's just like life, it's just the same.
It keeps hard strikes for me in store.
And is it fight? Or is it game?
And who is counting the score?
Be on you guard, and never fuss.
And look your rival in the eyes.
If fear chains you - kick its a$$!
In pain and sweat the winning lies.
Think up attack, and plan defense.
You need to move, you need to feel.
And learn to trust your guts and sense.
And don't forget to train your will.
Keep mouth shut and see perspective.
Be bold and hone boxing skills.
And keep an eye on your objective.
But stay relaxed, enjoy the thrill!
Don't let life throw you on ropes.
Don't stay in corner - move ahead!
Don't let knockouts ruin your hopes.
Don't let misfortunes drive you mad.
It's Friday night. It's time for fun.
It's time to smile and take some rest.
My fight is over. Worries gone.
When new day comes - I'll do my best.
Hi, Mccrib, SUID and Elle.
