my drinking was a fluke for almost 40 years...

MLD and Venecia, I'm a bit east of you. Those storms are supposed to roll through here later tonight. Glad I had the kiddos batten down the hatches outside. Right now it's hot and sticky. I foresee having to get up in the middle of the night to run around and close windows.
We weren't organized enough for the planned grilled pizza, so we just cooked it the regular way. Still delicious (and covered with meat). Belly is now pleasantly full and I'm enjoying a few down minutes before the kiddos have to be tucked in.

I think "nothing sucks forever" are good words to live by.
There shall be no complaining about no TV, etc., on my part. A friend just posted on FB what can accurately be called an ordeal, and a dangerous one at that. As water rapidly rose -- first from her hips then to her armpits -- she had to help a teen-aged girl from a nearby car who was in complete panic. Firefighters got them to higher ground. She's sure her car is a complete loss.

This inheritance is my second chance, nothing compared to what I squandered on drinking, drugs and a reckless lifestyle.
My wife brought home a hot-n-handy chicken from the grocery store, so I didn't have my burger. She worries that I will not eat well while she is on her diet...

Let's hear it for higher Ground. I've always made sure we're not living on low Ground. Mebbe it's from getting slammed hard into the Sandy bottom while Body Surfing at the SoCal Ocean as a Wee Bastid, but I gotta lotta respect for Water. Not to mention that, every time I went to the Beach, I'd come Home looking like the Sunburned Brynn seen above.
And then, there is this apparently-voluntary encounter with rising Water...

Hello and good night everyone -
I had a long day at work today and tomorrow will be the same.
I'm looking forward to a good night's sleep. Last night fireworks went on til 1am...with my dogs barking furiously at each bang.
