Sounds like you take care of your. Please continue to do so!
My wife is not a trained nurse but she does care for me. I also have an English Cocker who "has a toughness" and keeps me under close observation. He insists that I get my stuff together, at least to keep the treats coming, set out the dog food and let him out at piddle time. He loves his bed to sleep in but declines to use a bedpan or urinal, so gracefully supplied by hospital emergency rooms.
