Yes, I do. She was an early modernist. I think her style was seminal to Modernism.

Edit: One more thought on this, and then I'll zip it ('cause not everyone cares)... I love that she seemed to bring together realism and abstraction, I think that's what makes it unique (for the time period, anyway).

Merry Christmas Eve y'all!

This is my second sober Christmas yay! Permanent sobriety is the gift that keeps on giving and the best gift I've ever given myself!

Yesterday's celebration was actually a lot of fun! I ate so many sweets you'd think I just discovered sugar for the first time lol!

No "supposed to-s," Sao. It's whatever you want to feel/think about it.

Exactly^^^

I know I like a particular piece of art when I feel moved. When it stirs my emotions and evokes a sense of connection to the artist, the wider world, or to my deeper self.

Melina, that story about museum-guard guy. . .um.

I'm just so super glad I'm past that age where guys start conversations with sexy pervy stuff.

One more...

(can't contain myself)

It's Edward Hopper. Again, someone who made unique, identifiable art. I first saw Hopper's art in an exhibit in Chattanooga, TN when I was in my teens.

Back from work.

Eating coconut milk with cherries and dates)))

Opened this thread - and WOW! Beautiful music, awesome art, stories... I just feel super! Thank you all)

I felt a little pinch of sadness when left work today. Most of girls left after lunch to change and clean up for the NY party tonight. But it was just a pinch. I have my own sober party going. Plus - no hangover tomorrow!

See you all.

I like those Edward Hopper paintings...maybe I do have an artistic bone in my body somewhere!

I am not getting moving at all today. Drinking some pomegranate green tea, and hopefully it will give me some energy!

MB, I have found that looking at art can be almost healing or validating in ways. Not sure how/why, but it can have that effect. Don't you think?

I agree, SP. And these painting of Edward Hopper (never heard of him before) - I just need to gather my thoughts to explain what I feel. Fantastic!

It has morphed into an amazing art thread!

Hey Sao....mix picked up bone in lamb loin chops. What is the best method to cook them? Broil, sear, pan fry? Never made them but they looked amazing and were only $4.99 a pound. Melina? Our resident chef... Recommendations?

Spent time down in the old port. Shopped at a nice cooking store. Got some lemon infused oil. Some other gratuitous things.

Let me catch up some.
