It's "Dance" by Matisse. Art history classes come in handy, once again...

Thanks Marty! I never went to collage or anything past some very poor high school grades.

How are you feeling today? Was thinking of you and hope you are holding up ok.

Ken

Edit to say I love that song too!!!

I'm realizing that my alcoholic tendencies surrounding Christmas are pretty much at bay. I'm not over buying, stressing out, or getting crabby. I'm keeping it all very simple. I'm just thankful for what I have this year - my very supportive family and friends, a nice home and food to eat, all of you, and of course, sobriety.

MLD got it!!! I hope you are well today MLD.

What I know about art comes from an old childhood friend who is an artist. I love the positivity of this painting. I love Matisse's other stuff also, saw some of the originals in Munich!

The Portland museum of art is free every Friday evening. So I often go to dinner and the walk it off with a stroll through the exhibits. One of my all time favs was Richard Estes. Amazing works. I was entranced with the detail and could not seem to move on from painting to painting very quickly.

Good morning to all the weekender gang. I wish each each of you the best of the season wherever you are on life's journey. It doesn't have to be a hallmark card type situation to be meaningful.

i like the painting The Starry Night but don't know how to link it. Anyway, there's lots of indulgent food on the horizon so off to the gym for me.

Seasons greetings Mark!

The Portland museum looks great, as does the works by Estes.

I like Richard Estes. I gravitate toward the impressionists, myself. My parents made sure I was exposed to lots of art when I was little. That set me up for a lifetime of love of art, and a career in it. Sort of. I worked as a graphic designer for many many years.

We finally got some snow that stuck yesterday. Just in time for a (barely) white Christmas.

Good morning! Page two for me. My parents, more specifically, my Dad, introduced me to art and artists. I only wish I were that inspiring to my children.

Thank you Ken for starting us off.

Marty, I'm glad to hear you're doing okay.

Behan this is a first Christmas in many respects. Enjoy!

I'm headed to work today. A half day and then I'm going to get the house ready for tomorrow.

I must admit, I have never been a big art person. I think I appreciate art, but not really sure! I am a science nerd. I love researching and reading about new discoveries and things.

Did not sleep well last night, did not drop off until past 1am, then was wide awake at 5 am. Thinking a nap will be in order!

Happy Christmas Eve-
I can appreciate good art and I love going to museums. Ah ha! That's something I need to put on my list of things to do more often.
I was also up at 5am so I'll be napping today. I have no plans other than some errands and making a blueberry pie. I think I'll take the dogs walking later.

Oh my brother and his wife arrived, unannounced, just as my mother was beginning to have one of her moods.
The arrival put an end to that, thankfully, but I can definitely sense some tension already.
There is a wariness between my mom and sister in law. She is a very smart, kind of quiet lady and when she began texting as soon as she arrived, my mom started poking me in the shoulder.

I'm having a bit of time out in my room.

Happy families indeed.
