LB - I saw the Guess Who live in 1982, at a very small-town roller skating rink, of all places. I think it was $5 to get in. I was a freshman in college. A girlfriend and I went (none of our other friends were interested). I was afraid it would be pathetic, because they were playing such a Podunk venue, but it was great. A fond memory of innocent times.

Melina - your post about your mom really touched me. I, too, now have a greater understanding of and compassion for my mother than I did as a teen/young adult. She was a heavy drinker and I was very disapproving. I get it now. Demons. Now that I've battled them I understand.

Just now jumping into this thread so I'm behind. I will likely be spending a lot of time here this weekend. Thanksgiving weekend, for whatever reason, is always a trigger for me. I think it's just knowing I have all that extra time off after Thanksgiving dinner before the week starts up again. Definitely staying sober this year!

MLD, I wonder if it was the line up with bachman and cummings?
Burton Cummings - awesome talent.

welcome zelda fan, stick around this holiday weekend... always post before you decide to drink - ALWAYS

well, I got so caught up in the guess who I didn't get a lot done tonight... dinner was grape tomatoes, olives, radishes, cheese and pretzels - yeah I got the BIG jug from costco. what could be more american than a pretzel? don't say a hot dog...
I live near the pretzel capital of america. It's all around me.
Gonna try to get to sleep at a reasonable hour tonight.
Have a good evening/morning.

So one of my contributions to the Venecia Fam T'giving Dinner is homemade cranberry sauce. First time I've tried it.

Borrowed from a couple recipes, using pomegranate juice, apples, spices and cranberries. Plus a little sugar. I experimented by cutting back slightly on the pom juice and adding orange rooibos tea for a little infusion. I think it'll be good. My home sure smells heavenly.

Venecia that looks heavenly!

My sis wants me to show her how to cook dressing and I have made a rule that she cannot have a bottle or a cup in the house. You see, they use to call us the "cup sisters" so when I see her with a cup it triggers me. I'm expecting an overall successful evening since my 16 year old niece who is marking her calendar in her room for everyday I'm sober will be here.

Where is the moon? I looked out every window, Olive. I just got out of the shower and am in PJs so I'm not going out. Enjoy it for me, will ya?

I'm glad you liked the concert, LB. Was that our first date?

Scratch that. Married. Rats.

The moon is huuuuuge tonight! At least it was a couple hours ago, because like Bimini I'm in my Jammie's.

Oh, you mean right there where my fireplace (no window) and tree are?

Not happening. Thanks, though.

I'm out for the night.

Thank you Melina for that post. How sad for your mom. I'm glad you have been finding your way. Hugs.

Tetra, definitely follow up with a phone call if you haven't heard.

Back from dinner which was only adequate. The place does huge business but it's not the best Chinese place. It's just one of the few "fancy" restaurants in this area.

I'm working tomorrow so I have to get to bed. Drive safe BigS.

Venecia, that looks heavenly!

I bet it smells so comforting! Like how those home candles *wished* they smelled!

And I love your idea of adding the rooibos, snazzy!

I super heart you guys.

I know I write really long posts, and I thank you for reading them. I am a typical self absorbed alkie, and I'm not in therapy... so I work out a lot of stuff here in a very cathartic fashion.

I had a good cry after I wrote about my mom. I feel cleansed. I feel at peace for the moment.

I'm very grateful for this space.
