Calling all WEEKENDERS to the Weekend Menagerie Thread July 18-20
Here are the owls...this picture was taken at an arboretum on the campus of UNC Chapel Hill in 1997 by a photojournalist from a local newspaper. It appeared in an issue of Life Magazine. At the time I worked for an association that gave out awards to journalists and that's how I got a copy of the picture.
Hope the day goes well for everyone. I'm at work and it's going to be an extra stressful day but at least it's Friday. Take care.

Dumping old underwear and buying some new pairs is also refreshing.
We should have a random 'housecleaning' thread sometime. What are those random tasks and overhauls you put off doing but make you feel so good when they're done. Lol. Like old underwear and lonely sock trashing. And new, fresh undie and sock purchases. Ahhhh.

I hope everyone is doing fine!!!

Thank you, Soberlicious, for referring me to this thread. This will be my first weekend sober (I dearly hope) in a long while. I am really relying on this SR community to get me past my cravings for cold Chardonnay. Just writing that word makes me salivate. Pitiful.
Thanks, SR.
Thanks, SR.
My view for the weekend. An otter ran across the lawn this morning and the bats do a show around the windows at night.
That island is rabbit island, except that is where the otters live.
I love it here!

Welcome Cleomie!
Bacon and ice cream have been known to cure cravings. Separately or together, pure deliciousness.
I am having the unusual experience of being busy at work the past few days.
Not a lot of time to be online. Looks like a great crew for the weekend.
Nice pics, Ken!

Nons, please whip me up a nice fresh BLT sammie for lunch along with melted cheese and an icy Dr. Pepper....make it doubles, i missed breakfast and I'm STARVING!
(I am still breathing with my tongue out from last weekend, that just cracks me up but looks funny at work).
I had to work today too, but only a few hours....I came in at 10:30 and will leave with my students at 4PM. am off on Monday, I hope we have good weather...but if not I will tackle that carpet shampooing that is needed....(in the summer, I only clean in bad weather).
I made good use of the extra morning hours at home, laundry, treadmill, walked the dog twice and was all ready to go...then one of the cats jumped precisely as I was putting away the powdered coffee latte mix that i use. spilling it all over the floor....the vacuum came out then the mop...there are much worse things that could have happened, so it is not a big deal.
(all of my socks match after the laundry)

Welcome Cleomie. Glad you joined the thread. Keep posting and reading. You can definitely do this. The salivation will go away. I promise.
Latest report from the field - "Rabbit still holed up in turnips"
I don't want to set trap unless I'm going to be around. Don't want him to expire in the heat.
Beautiful day here in eastern PA, should be great weekend.
welcome to all new weekenders. Let's get this boat rockin!

Last year we were trying to trap a raccoon but ended up with a skunk! He survived a couple of days without water (my husband was secretly hoping he would die! :-O). I looked the diet up online, and discovered that he was probably getting his water from grubs that are, unfortunately, plentiful in my flower bed. I propped his cage door open, put out a can of tuna, and left him overnight to escape (with my husband's consent). I did not get sprayed. We just looked at each other with our beady, little eyes!

My fourth weekend sober and I hope I can make it. In Edinburgh for the Jazz and Blues festival, with a concert both tomorrow and Sunday night. In the hotel at present and finding it really hard not to have a glass of wine. This is normally a party weekend. There is do much going on during the day that hopefully will keep me occupied. I suppose we all have to go through that first experience without having a drink to know we can do it, I just wish I could shut up that voice in my head. Started reading Rational Recovery. Thank you all for your support. X
