My mum (who actually works in addiction and knows i've had treatment for alcoholism in the past) picked me up to come to her house for a week for xmas.
In the car she said something about drink and then said i'll make a bet that you drink and put her hand out for me to shake!
I declined, and said i'm not drinking but I won't make a bet with you about it either.
Then later when we were eating dinner the subject of bucks fizz with breakfast came up and I said i'll have juice. She told me that its not real booze and I should have one.
FFS!!!

Sorry... needed to just let that out.
First sober xmas eve done!

Talk about wanting you to fail!! . . . that's not very fair her making excuses for drinking alcohol when she's aware your taking sobriety seriously! also showing no support whatsoever by betting that you'll fail! . . . very uncool!!

Great job on having a sober Xmas Eve!!

Ugh, sorry Twinings. You're doing great, hang in there!

I'm in! I've had lots of drinking dreams lately, my sobriety feels fuzzy. Must be the season. Hope everyone has a great couple days celebrating soberly!

Yeah I dunno what her problem is.. she always has an agenda and is very manipulative... we've had a lot of problems with our relationship in the past.
I chose to stop talking to her for years.

Anyway...thanks, I feel pretty good

Staying sober here over Christmas, but you wouldn't know it from the job I did gift-wrapping these presents ..

Anyway . . Tomorrow is my half-year sober anniversary -- So far I went from Day One to Day One-Hundred-Eighty-Three! But the job's not over, no sir -- fun's just getting started!

Be safe and dry this Christmas, boys and girls!

Twinings, that is crappy! I am seriously thinking of keeping away from my family tonight for reasons like that and other things. I'm trying to hang on and I feel kind of crappy physically and am thinking it could be a not so great situation for me to put myself into. It wouldn't be so bad for me to hang out by myself tonight, watch TV or a good movie, I think I have White Christmas, and try to get rid of my pounding headache and get some peace for myself.

Thanks for starting this thread Ken! It's good to see everyone, it's good to be able to listen to people who understand and make sense and who are trying to make good decisions for themselves, even if it means being alone during the holiday. We aren't really alone, we know, especially when we check in here!

Love you all! Merry Christmas and I'll have my eye on you!

Twinings,

If my family tried to taunt me like that, I'd tell them to f*** off.

But that's just me. I'm not one to do what I would do, and you shouldn't either lol

Be well. Sorry to hear of your mother's insensitivity toward your struggles.

Well that's just brutal, I know it's your mom but... I won't say it.

You should have bet 1000$. She would have probably pulled off knowing you are dead serious about sobriety. + she doesn't know your secret weapon.. SR! and a hole bunch of sober people cheering for you ;-)

Well done!

Hey y'all ,
quite night so far with no call outs am going to watch family guy and american dad in a while 23:30 christmas eve here and very quite outside . have a bottle of fizzy water , some honey roasted cashew nuts . warm and snuggled down in bed .
By myself but i'm content with that .. see you all in the morning for a hot black coffee .. it's just another day to get through sober .. 24hrs and 30mins left till boxing day… and ticking , so we can all take a big breath and get back to our usual sober routines ( i still do mine regardless)

Bestwishes, m
